So, good ‘ol Brett was busted for embezzling money from the State of Mississippi. He was supposed to make appearances and speeches on behalf of families in need (really?), and was a no show. So, he was to be compensated over 1 million dollars for this….and he repaid the state 600k, and owes over 200k in interest. Why is this man not behind bars? From the article: Favre was named in a Mississippi state audit in May 2020 after he accepted $1.1 million for appearances he didn’t make. The money reportedly came from the federal government’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. The mistake was part of more than $94 million of improperly spent federal money that was supposed to help at-need residents in Mississippi. It’s unclear how Favre’s appearances would have helped the at-need Mississippians. Though Favre initially said he made the appearances, he said he didn’t realize where the money had come from and immediately paid back $500,000. He said he would pay the rest back in installments. But after Favre hadn’t paid back any more, the state sent him a letter earlier this month and threatened him with a civil lawsuit if he didn’t repay the final $600,000 plus interest. Favre is not facing criminal charges in the incident, though six people — including former state Department of Human Services director John Davis — have been in the embezzlement case. If Favre doesn’t pay the $228,000 he still owes the state by Nov. 12, though, the state sounds ready to follow through on its threat of a lawsuit. sports.yahoo.com/packers-hall-of-famer-brett-favre-repays-mississippi-welfare-funds-fraud-still-owes-interest-civil-lawsuit-020853515.html

Im still trying to figure out how Brett Favre public appearances would help the poor and needy?
Advice on double-bagging their groceries? Maybe some Copper Fit gizmos for those with physical issues?

I think I read something last week that he has paid them back. Not a good look. But cant act like Im surprised.
I think the bigger issue is why are they offering "celebs" millions to appear at these things and not just giving the money directly to the families who need it? Someone needs to do a dive into where all this relief money goes. But we know that aint happening.

Pretty much the only charity I will give to is St Jude's.

Wounded Warriors lost me when I saw the salaries/vacations/administrative spending.

At the very least I look at them very closely before giving. I will look into Tunnels to Towers thanks.

UW is not a non profit charity, and they keep 12.5% of all donations. Sounds like bullshit to me. I bet the CEO et al are living lavish lifestyles.

In a galaxy long, long ago I worked for one of the regional Bell companies and those cocksuckers made UW their charity and between the pressure put on you from the Union (thanks, shitheads) and the company, you were coerced to giving to a charity where you had no input into where those remaining funds(after the skim)were eventually distributed. Some stronger people simply told the company and the union to go fuck themselves but at the time I was a new employee and didn't have the balls. I left their employ but not before I cancelled my deduction into the POS charity. That pissed off both the company and the union to the point where they sent their 'charity coordinators' to lean on me . Why anyone, of free choice, would give to this charity is beyond me.
They did this because they wanted 100% participation for the publicity factor.
