first time i cried for someone 'famous' since stevie ray vaughan. yep
that islanders team was such a great part of growing up on long island for islanders fans. nothing like it.
first one of them to go, it's like a part of your childhood dying. makes you feel old.
yeah i know i'm old. deeks

Always liked that dude because of his last name. He played with no helmet along with Bob Nystrom. Was a huge fan of Billy Smith who was unbeatable in the playoffs.
The match-ups against the Oilers are part of my childhood memories. Was cool having a ny sports team kick some ass.

I’m fairly certain I saw him at an isles game last week. They were honoring a home town military hero and he was there to present. Was a few rows in front of me. Dude looked in good health.
Dang, what a pisser.

Dang, what a pisser. What was your impression of UBS? Did you drive? It’s a real nice place. Great atmosphere, not antiseptic like a lot of other arenas/stadiums. Nothing covered in puke and piss (yet). Food is good and tons of bars. Expensive though. To be expected. Isles owner often at games, sits right behind the net. Met him first game I was there. I drive to the games. Traffic is hit or miss. Mostly hit though. CIP can be a nightmare. Parking is fine for me. I park in south lot, 5 min walk to the arena, literally back on the CIP within 30 seconds of getting to my car after a game.

Took the wife to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra @ UBS Arena in December. The arena was nice. Didn’t walk around the whole place but the corridors were nice & wide. I bought a beer & she bought a canned vodka drink. Prices just as crappy as anywhere else. Concessions were quick but then again, it was the TSO & it wasn’t sold out.
Because it wasn’t nearly a sellout, we got tix for like $30 each with fees, which wasn’t bad.
Heard parking was $40. Can anyone confirm that? I fucking hate paying that much for parking. We parked on the street.
The wife & her friends are going to see Journey / Billy Idol there. So I will the Uber driver for 4 drunken women.
By the way, our seats weren’t that good but those trannies have a good orchestra. But it must be fucking cold wearing a skirt in Siberia.
Oh… and RIPSB.

Also near section 118 or so is the AmEx lounge. A little hole in the wall with top shelf booze. Just need your AmEx card to get in. Also get 10% off food and drinks throughout the arena if you pay with AmEx.

Heard there were a ton of complaints from the locals about street parking because no one wants to pay that much. Word is the communities adjacent to the arena will soon be resident only parking, with parking passes issued. Who knows. I had to drive past UBS around 630 last night as fans were arriving for an islanders game. The worst traffic was the Southern State merge onto the CIP. If you stay in the left lane, you can move past the exit back-ups pretty well. Hopefully when the garage is completed and the new w/b LIRR station is completed, things wont be so bad. Looking forward to checking it out.

RIP Clark Gillies. I remember the night he kicked the crap out of Dave Schultz in the playoffs. He was tough and he could score.
