I think Putin is surprised by the unanimous international push back this is receiving. I don't think he cares, but the various sanctions, SWIFT banning, Europe sending weapons.. etc is not what he expected.
I read also apparently Anonymous (the hacker dudes) have launched a jihad on Russia and have hacked mulitple gvt agencies.
Given the protagonist (Putin) I don't like where this is going..

I've read the same ref Anonymous. Also read that Russia de-escalates by escalating first (if that makes sense.) Putin doesnt want this to drag out (duh)...he's counting on the west to have short memories and sanctions lifted after Ukraine is settled and done. Dont think he'll nuke though... |

I have a completely baseless concern/theory that Putin has cancer or something and wants to put his mark on the world. His economy wasn't doing well and he felt this could be his last chance and a desperate man that was already a loose canon is very dangerous. |

I have a friend in the foreign service in Moscow. He said everything's stopped working - no payment, no credit cards. He's been there for 6-7 years and is now trying to get out ASAP.

He has a country with a tiny economy at this point, smaller than Texas - and their only real business is exporting oil and gas to the rest of the world. They top Mexico on the population tables and are heading in the wrong direction. And they just came out of a crushing pandemic. And your next order of business is to brutally invade an equally asset-free sovereign country? I can't figure any real way it makes good sense .... |
