Good morning Jet fans.
Two games were played on this date by our beloved Jets...
Jan 17th 2010...Jets at SD Chargers..
Jets win 17-14 after finishing the regular season 9-7 and making the playoffs...
Sanchez only threw for 100 yds but the Jets ran for 169 and beat SD...
January 17th 1999... After finishing the season 12-4 and fresh off beating Jax in the divisional round, the Jets travel to Denver in the AFC conference championship..
Jets were up 10-0 and all looked good , for a moment....Mr Ed was frustrated all first half..Keith Byers fumbled the ball when the Jets could have gone up more and the tide had turned.
The Jets had 6 turnovers and Denver came back with 23 unanswered points to beat the Jets 23-10.
..
We were so very close to another Superbowl appearance... The Jets had a great team then and were poised to set up a future dynasty in 1999 with Vinny and Pacells..
So the good and the bad Jets fans..on January 17th ..this day in NY Jets history..

Also on January 17 in 2006, Jets hired Eric Mangini to succeed Herm Edwards as HC. I thought we had something when he led us to a 10-6 record and the playoffs in his first year, but it didn't quite work out.

I agree... I was pumped after that 10-6 year Our last 3 head coaches -- Herm, Mangini & Rex --all made the playoffs in their first seasons. Mangini also did it coming off of a 4-win season. Hopefully Bowles can do the same. If so, we need to sustain the success this time around.
