Good morning Jets fans....
On this day in 2001 the Jets hired coach
Herman Edwards.
After All Groh started the 2000 season at 6-1 they tanked out at 9-7 and Groh was done...
Herm was a refreshing tell it like it is coach and I enjoyed his tenure in NY.
Thanks Herm.
And that's today's update for Jan 18th in Jets history

Also, The Jets hired John Idzik on this date in 2013....
That did not turn out as a good hire...
Thanks for setting us back John....

And here is one more from January 18, 2000.
Robert Wood Johnson IV buys the Jets from the estate of Leon Hess. Yes, the Woody Johnson era started on this date 15 years ago.

Fun fact I saw earlier today:
Since Jets ownership changed in 2000, every first-year Jets coach has finished with a winning record: Al Groh, Herm Edwards, Eric Mangini and Ryan. Three made the playoffs

Well, between Bing and I, we have been at the History threads for over a year now. Bing had this day pretty well covered last year, so I am just bumping the thread.

Actually, for the most part, I think Woody has been a pretty good owner.

Thanks Lith...
Sometimes tough to find something relevant... Feel free to just bump or add any old thing you find...
My threads were just some Birfdays etc...yours are way more in depth and better witten...
See?

Doug Bryan makes that field goal against the steelers and we could have went to the SB. I liked herms tenure here. Not the greatest X's and O's coach, but he got his players up and we had some good years.
