Canada's greatest folk singer. My parents wore the shit out of their "Gord's Gold" cassette on family car rides and it heavily influenced my musical taste. He'll get no shitbag designation from me. RIP teacher.

In the 70's, my mom was a bit of a loon, so it was not uncommon for us 4 kids to be left at an Aunts house for a few days at a time. (long story) At the time, my Uncle was a Gordon Lightfoot fanatic and played the Sundown album on a loop constantly, to the point where I began to hate every nuance of Lightfoots Canadian accent. Irrational, burning hate. It made me even hate Richard Thompson, who was from England, but sounded to me like he was from Canada. This lasted for decades. Only in the last few decades have I been able to be objective and appreciate him as a song writer and performer. lolgfy

Gordon was extremely influential for me. Also huge doses of Simon and Garfunkel. His female counterparts were Carly Simon and Carole King. My parents played all of them. They were lazy hippies.

candidate for worst song ever. Loved the guy's music. Big fan. If you could read my mind was my GO TO song on acoustic guitar when someone asks me to play something. Assuming there is a capo around. Interestingly... EVERY song I've ever played of his, the guitar is Capo'd on 2nd or 3rd fret.
