Finally.
For a conference though. I'm staying in the financial district right by the WTC memorial and museum. I'll basically have a day to sight see, so I plan on just seeing the 9/11 sites. Question, is it better to book a tour, or just do the museum and memorial on my own? I hate tours, but its only $20 more than the price of entry to the museum.
Shakin' where do I find the hookers and blow?

Take the tour because the guides have more information than what is displayed or they can hi-lite what isnt obvious in the exhibit. (As I've been told) Never been, cant bring myself to go in there. Been on the grounds since the complex was rebuilt, and it was like a carnival with people taking smiling selfies and countless vendors hawking WTC shit. Tough to stomach.

I appreciate it. That's what I was thinking. I promise not to take any selfies...I've seen it done at Auschwitz and some of the other camps in Eastern Europe. I understand why you wouldn't want to go. Not sure how I will feel about it.

I took some students to Auschwitz in the summer of 2015 during the Pokemon Go craze...yep, people were putting/finding those stupid ass things IN THE CAMP. Total disrespect...

I went on a student bus tour to Europe with college kids from all over the country around 1983-4. Two of the biggest nuts on the bus were lunatics from Boston. Hilarious, drunk all the time, no fucks given. (keep in mind there were also bunch of kids from California on the bus). Booze was cheap in Europe. As we're driving into Dachau there was dead silence on the bus. As we approach the gate the sound of a popping champagne cork from the back of the bus erupted, exactly the wrong thing to hear at this moment. Shrieks of "Wtf" eminated from many of the chicks who stood up howling as the rest of us, knowing these dicks, put our heads in our hands, crying larfing at the pure wrongness of it, knowing these fucking chowd alchies had no idea of how fucked up that was because they needed to be drunk to see the horrors before us. Half the bus was crying larfing, half the bus was crying in despair. I forgot alot of things but I will never forget that. Unless something drastic happened, I'd wager both of those dudes are dead now. Or are Cawps. RIHSB's, possibluh

Even the whores on 7th ave are gone….. Paul Simon needs to change those lyrics. Wear a TRUMP hat and let’s see what happens.

Yes, there is one garish ghetto mural thing nearby that is extremely distasteful if not disrespectful. As a “survivor” (vs. escapee) I have my thoughts and I think any fees/costs should be borne by the assholes who perpetrated the unspeakable crime. Some might think Oculus is too opulent as well, but as there was always commercial activity in and around (and below at WTC), the PATH HQ it replaces is a bit before my time. I can accept that revival. I haven't spent very much time at all down there since the new tower was built, until I took part in a survey group in late Feb at the Marriott nearby (which i think was a rebuild as well) I took a long look at the area. 20 years on already and it seems almost forgotten, and strange too that things on the drawing board for decades like the shiny new transfer Fulton Street terminal are already in the shitter bc of Blubberlips’ no policing allowed policy.
