January 19th NY Jets history: The Rex Ryan Era

Yup. 7 years ago today, we hired Rex. What followed were 6 of the wildest, strangest seasons any Jet fan has seen.

1st two years were great. I loved the 09 & 10 versions of fat Rax. Brash, bold, outspoken, but most importantly, his teams won, falling just short of the ultimate prize.

Next two years are the ones when I began to realize the emperor had no clothes. The "what the fuck" years. The 3 game losing streak to miss the playoffs at the end of 11, on-field meltdown by Tone in Miami, the man who was made a captain by Rex. The hiring of Sparano, signing of Tebow in '12.

Finally the two Idzik years. The "Just Make it Stop" years. The dramatic Snoopy Bowl victory that cost us our starting QB, 3 game losing streak off the bye in 13 and the 1-8 start in 2014. Two years too many.
