Memories of Riitz Ballroom/Palladium NYC early 80's

I saw Rush at the Palladium. I think that’s why my hearing is fucked up. I’m not even joking. Rush was the loudest rock band in the world and I think they brought all their equipment for places the size of Madison Square Garden into the palladium. I couldn’t hear shit when we got outside.

Had front row stage left for Judas Priest @ Calderone; no ear plugs and I couldn't hear for a week. Cried all the way home. Been taking audio tests and I'm down...-10db in the left ear. Still crying.

Since you asked, I am going to list, from memory,
all the records in the house we had I remember since 1961 or so.
I lived at 32-15 150 Street and our house is now a vacant Chinese mcmansion money pit.
This only goes up to 1969 when I started to buy 45s myself,
The first record I bought for myself was Snoopy vs. The Red Baron in 2/67.
I bought and sold thousands of items afterwards.

Now iirc, on Northern Blvd. south side not far from my ancestral home and birthplace (Flushing Hospital)
next to the Armory and near Bock-David Auto Parts and Union St,
when I was a tot, was “The Bee Hive”. I believe this evolved
into Jimmy Byrne’s. The “Keets” was to the south and west.

I remember in the early 90s if the weather was clear, you could pick up W ABC or WFAN at night. I would bounce back-and-forth between Joe Benigno or Curtis Sliwa depending on what they were talking about. I was listening to Curtis Sliwa one night when he was talking about alien abductions and I figured I’d call the station and troll him. He made a big deal of the fact that I was listening to the radio station from Tennessee and then he asked me about being abducted by aliens. I told him a car pulled up and Mexicans told me to get in the car and give them my money. He hung up pretty quick .
