I am on record many times saying I want nothing to do with Winston, but that was without question mainly due to his off field red flags. That being said, he is starting to pepper in some on field issues as well. The guy is absolutely a turnover machine.
He actually may be best served to go back to FSU next year, show people he can be a sane member of society, and try to improve the TO numbers. That won't happen, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for him.

I've said before that even without the off the field concerns, Winston still isn't this super elite prospect that many are making him out to be.
He has that extended, Leftwich-like release, shows some sloppy footwork in the pocket, holds onto the ball for a long time and forces throws way too often.
He certainly has potential, but the host of red flags and turnover issues certainly give you cause for pause. Mariota is clearly the better prospect in my eyes.

He never was a slam dunk prospect, even if he no off field issues. He may not end up the second QB in this draft.

My biggest problem after watching him for a couple of games is his inability to thread a tight spiral into a tight window which is a must for a NFL QB. His throwing motion doesn't help.

The kid is only 20 years old, so to think that he is at his ceiling as for as anything physical or professional development.
The best case will be for him to go back, but Most likely he will be suspended as if he is not the school will look even worse during their title IV suit, So that is out the window. Maybe he can go back to school but at a division 2 school, play a year and hopefully be "acquitted" or at least reach a settlement wit her in the next year.

For these reasons, I don't think Winston can go back. I think he is going to be forced to declare. Between the character questions and his recent stretch of poor play, Winston may start to tumble down the first round, especially if Connor Cook declares. I have been a Winston supporter, but the number of picks is starting to worry me. That being said, I don't want any part of Mariotta in the top 5 either.

Why no Mariota in the top 5?
He's likely the best prospect since Luck.

I said it over and over again. The kid isn't a good QB. FSU is a damn good football team with a reckless moron throwing the ball for them. Some can't see that for whatever reason. When I make the analogy of Tim Tebow also being one of the winningest QBs in college people tell me I'm an idiot and that they play nothing alike.... it's because they are incapable of making analogies. They don't play the same, but the results are the same. Tim Tebow was actually a great college QB. Winston isn't even a good college QB and he'll be an even worse professional QB. And if people want to judge Tebow's mechanics and not notice that Winston has an elongated throwing motion well then that's their prerogative. Mariota is the only QB that I know of who I'd draft. There are probably others but I don't know anything about them. And if anyone want's to discredit my thoughts on Winston's mechanics I found an interesting article that actually used the exact same terms that I used... elongated. He has a slow release. It's most likely due to his baseball pitching mechanics getting in his way. bleacherreport.com/articles/2143701-where-does-jameis-winston-need-to-improve-most-in-2014

I have to give you credit for that one. In the Mariota thread I stated that it's clear as day that he's the best QB prospect in this draft, even putting off-the-field stuff aside. Winston is starting to give me Geno-like Nightmares and I am posting this to basically eat a lil crow, and give you some credit from your rant back on JI LOL. Mariota should be the #1 priority. Suck for the Duck and then give whatever's necessary if we don't suck enough to get him. With that being said, I'm not completely done with Winston. If we can't get Mariota for whatever reason, I'm still willing to take the risk if he falls to us in the draft(wouldn't trade picks to get him like I would for Mariota.)

People say that Winston is a winner, like that makes a good QB. Tebow was a winner too. So was Leinart. But none the less, +1 ... Thanks for the props. I just can't stand to see another bust become a NYJ. We need to hit on the top 3 picks in the draft. If that means Amari Cooper instead of Mariota then so be it. But they can't afford to not get a top offensive talent, period.
