80 years ago today arguably the best
Flanker the Jets ever had...no. 13 HOF WR
Don Maynard was born in Crosbyton Tx.
Don played for Texas Western and was a Jet from 1960 ( then Titans) until 1972.
His contribution during the AFL title game
Against Oakland is what propelled the Jets
Into Superbowl III.
Happy 80th Birthday Don. Thank you for
Playing your heart out....everytime.

Happy 80th, Don.
One of the underrated all time greats. At the time of his retirement, I believe he was the all time leader in receiving yards, yet he gets little respect outside of NY. A few years ago, my son and I went to the Jets-Bears game here at Soldier Field. My son was wearing his Maynard #13 jersey. One of the Bears fans we went to the game with wanted to know when Brad Maynard played for the Jets. No respect.
Also on Jan 25. In 1965, just 3 weeks after signing his first contract with the Jets, Joe Namath undergoes what I believe was his first of many knee surgeries due to an injury suffered during his last season at Alabama.

Sadly, even at 80 yrs old he would have been our #4 WR this past season.
