You hit the nail on the head and you sound like you mirrored my life with sports. With football they are ready to go through what wrestling went through, by the way, a pair of spandex underwear away from gay sex, where they will have to start calling football entertainment rather than a sport, thanks Goodel. Hockey is best live, I love going to games but have a hard time watching on TV, don't know why. I realy love girls Olympic hockey, if it was played like that I would watch, much more technical because of the way it is spread out and no big hitting. Maybe opening up the rink would help, mY slow down the game. I too too grew up playing soccor and only watch WC and there is nothing like a minor league stadium. A nice night where the kids just run and do what they want and plenty of interaction with the players. We have Rodger Dean right hear we go all the time, my so has thrown the first pitch out twice. My sons old batting and pitching coach used to play for the Hammer Heads, marlins minor team and we would just have a blast. I suggest attending a minor league game if you have never. Totally agree as to minor league baseball. Frankly, I'd rather go to a minor league game than MLB. This x1,000

Re: Minor League baseball - I swear it's just like Bull Durham. There are chicks that sit above the dugouts that are always chattin up the players.

So you're saying I should become a minor league player and I'll get the poonani?

So you're saying I should become a minor league player and I'll get the poonani? Unfortunately, I don't think it would work for you.
The world needs ditch diggers, too.

I still play weekly, so I am biased. It's a brotherhood just like lacrosse and soccer. You continue to play in rec leagues as you get older.
Yes, it is an expensive sport to get into, skates, the gear, and ice time is expensive. You have to have a dedicated parent to get you to the rink at 5am.
I think the big problem is the league itself. it's run by a bunch of clowns. @ strikes in like 6 years, and they allowed it to expand to fast into areas where no one gives a shit. They tried a money grab by moving smalll market teams to warm cities, Phoenix, Carolina, Atlanta, Florida??? Tampa etc. Out my way the Avalanche were great last year, arena was always packed, this year they suck, tickets are $5.00!!!

It should be, it's got the most excitement and players with character. One day ill tell you how I helped hockey bring down the Berlin Wall. what's with all the islanders fans loving hockey so much all of a sudden ??

Hockey is the most expensive of any of the major sports out here in Chicago - the cheapest standing room tickets are more than most Bears or Bulls games. Still probably riding high on that Stanley Cup fever and having a good team but still - definitely popular in certain areas. Like others have said, love watching it live but I'd rather even watch soccer on TV than hockey

I tried getting into it, but I just can't. On tv, to a novice, there's no order to it. No set plays or well established formations; the puck is constantly flying all over the place making it hard to follow. If you look away for a second (after minutes of the same thrashing back and forth) you might miss the deciding goal of the game. I get why people like it, but I don't. Then again, I watch golf on tv. I like Vaseline on toast. I bet you like you like your nachos Flanders-style too, cucumbers with cottage cheese. With a slice of plain bread and a glass of water on the side for dipping.
