Joe Namath's stats for the 1966 season played in 14 games started 13, completed 232 of 471 passes (49.3%) for 3379 yards 19 TDs 27 INTs. Imagine what the AFL's, Namath's and the Jets legacies might have been had the Jets given up on this 2nd year QB and his coach after this and the previous bad years!?!

The Jets finally have a winning season!!! Going 8-5-1

As the AFL-NFL merger became fait accompli, the two leagues began staging exhibition games against each other during the preseason. 16 interleague games were played, with the NFL dominating 13-3. The result was similar in Super Bowl II, as the Green Bay Packers cruised past the Oakland Raiders.

I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but the game programs from the 1967 season continued the trend started by the '66 ones in that they lacked some of the fun and character from earlier seasons.

The Boston Patriots were notable holdouts, with cartoon versions of Pat Patriot still terrorizing other teams' mascots. The New York Jets commissioned famed American artist LeRoy Neiman to paint the covers for some of their programs. By and large, however, other teams went the route of game action photographs on standardized cover templates.
