Today in 1954 one of my favorite Jets, Clark Gaines was born...

A very versitile player, Clark was a stand out on some poor Jets Teams..

Very speedy player, and played hard always..

February 1, 1973 -- the Jets finally bring in a Winner. Charley Winner is hired as an assistant coach on Weeb Ewbank's staff. Winner spends one season as asst coach under Ewbank and is named Head Coach when Weeb retires after the 1973 season. Unfortunately, Winner never lived up to his name -- in one and a half seasons as head coach, he led the Jets to a 9-14 record.

February 1, 1978 -- Joe Namath announces his retirement from the NFL.
