Holy crap looks like a solid 410
Meet the 410 POUNDS teenager offered a football scholarship by BYU after being spotted playing pick-up BASKETBALL
He stands at 6ft 7ins, weighs 410 pounds and has only played football a handful of times.
Meet Motekiai Langi, who has just been signed to Brigham Young University's Cougars team.
The high school student was offered a prestigious scholarship by the team after its defensive line coach, Steve Kaufusi, saw him playing a game of pick-up basketball in Liahona on the island of Tonga.
Following the game, Kaufusi traveled back to Provo, Utah, and told head coach, Bronco Mendenhall, of Motekiai's performance, which involved the hefty teenager moving 'lightly on his feet'.
Mendenhall then met Motekiai, who is nearly double the weight of the average NFL player (240lbs) and will play as an offensive and defensive lineman. Only 15 minutes later, he decided to sign him.
Speaking of his decision, the coach explained: 'I’ve known him a total of 15 minutes. His evaluation was based on Kaufusi seeing him play a pickup game of basketball in Tonga two years ago.
'And he just saw a giant body that’s light on his feet and could change direction and loved working out and training. Me telling you he’s 6-7 and 410 pounds is one thing.
'If you were to see him, that impact was – it’s not a fat 410, it’s a solid, like lean isn’t the right word - it is a solid looking, healthy, giant man. When I shook his hand his hand went almost up to my elbow.'
Mendenhall added that he had 'no intention' of offering Motekiai a scholarship on the spot, but could not resist after meeting the enormous teenager. 'I've never done anything like this before,' he said.
And he even joked that if nothing else, Motekiai could fall sideways after the snap to block the line, according to Yahoo.com.
