So i finally committed a morning to watching what I could find on White... impressive, but i'm not putting him over Parker. I can't say for sure that he'd be anything more than a mid to late RND 1 prospect on my board.
-Good to great jump ball artist
-played his best against tight man coverage. often gets decisive separation. When he gets behind his man, it's over.
-tracks the ball OK, but not elite in that department.
-contested catches were 50/50, especially when a DBs hands were all over him. drew a lot flags, but also dropped balls when a DB attacked the catch like NFL corners will.
-great first step, doesn't let the corner dictate his positioning. finds space.
-better outside than in. Decker clone in that area at times. Missed a number of throws between zones though. seemed to lose track of ball between LBs and Safeties.
-YAC production was noteable but nothing jaw dropping
-didn't look all world against an off man/zone scheme. doesn't play through coverage over the top well. Watch the Texas game.
-willing and capable blocker
-At times, i felt like i was watching Deandre Hopkins on steriods, once in a while though, I wondered if he'll be the next Reggie Williams.
Final thoughts; an A-list WR prospect who has the ability to take the top off a defense and force teams to account for him every play. I don't however see the kind of domination you'd like from a franchise WR like Julio or AJ who possess the ability to take over a game. He does a lot things that we already get from Decker. His ceiling may be someone like Jordy Nelson, but his floor could also be a glorified Donte Stallworth.

Nice write-up although I'm not sure if you're being overly harsh. I'm a big fan but not over Parker and definitely not at 6 overall, so we both agree on that.
This year we have been in agreement about every prospect and I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Love Parker, hate Gregory, same thoughts on Cooper. It sure generates some lousy debates. Maybe we can get into some of the O lineman....I still have tons of tape too watch but I'll fit it in soon. I know you like Flowers and I've been a big Peat fan so far.

Yes, it does read a little harsh, but i think thats a reaction of me going into this thing with Everest like expectations based on the unabashed love from ppl like Jeremiah. I am on board with white as a solid 1st round WRs. He's got oodles of potential. I need to get into the corners, backs some more and olinemen. I'm sure we'll find something bang the table over :0

I really like him, although I agree that I wouldn't take him over Cooper or Parker.
Mayock and Jeremiah both have him as their #1 ranked WR.

But he still only had one year of decent production and that was in a Holgorsen offense in the Big12, not exactly a stellar defensive conference. If you watch the TCU game he was essentially taken out of the game by their secondary. He only had 3 catches for 28 yards. Seeing him being talked about going in the top 5 is a bit of a stretch IMO. On a side note.....has anyone watched any tape on Breshad Perriman of UCF? There are quiet rumblings that he could sneak into the first round WR discussion.

While he wasnt neutralized completely, they did keep him in check with some pretty basic off man Tampa 2 type stuff. I've been seeing Perriman's name yes, haven't seen much on him. They're other WR Hall caught my attention tho.

I believe White was injured his first year at WVU after transferring from a tiny school, and that's why he didn't blow up till this year. Also I remember taking a quick look at Perriman months ago, but I wasn't impressed. I guess I'll have to go back and look again, because I've been hearing those rumblings too.

I am not aware of any injuries. He did play for a small juco in Pennsylvania. He did not have the grades to get a scholarship and then sat out his first year with the juco -- his coach there thought he had some growing up to do. I haven't heard of any maturity issues or other problems at WVU, so maybe the coach sitting him for a year helped him grow up.

I just went back and looked and I got it mixed up. It was his QB Trickett who had an injured shoulder. That combined with learning a new system might explain why it took him until this year to put it all together.

He does have the all planet type build but his faults are everywhere. Slow choppy feet, ducks his head on just about every play, no punch and lets the defender engage, and he plays soft. He will get eaten alive at the NFL level. He is a total project that I wouldn't touch until MAYBE the second round. Peat is head and shoulders above him in every facet. He's bigger, smoother, has a sweet first step/kick slide, and is much more polished technician. The only thing separating Peat from being an all-pro Tackle is time.....kid just needs to mature.

Excellent, we should get an olinemen thread going.

White had a monster combine....quieting his critics about his speed with a 4.35 40 and looking the part in WR drills....
Does your opinion of him change after the combine?
Are you comfortable taking him at 6 if the QB's and Cooper are gone?
Should he be drafted before Cooper?

Are you comfortable taking him at 6 if the QB's and Cooper are gone? Should he be drafted before Cooper? To be honest, i was really worried about his speed. It showed up when it needed to - tho 4.35 does earn a "spock eyebrow raise". What I was a little concerned about, was how many balls he didn't come down with in contested catches. Not the over the shoulder type. But the digs, slants, posts, etc. When DBs got their hands in there, he didn't secure the ball often enough. In the NFL, that's going to happen quite a bit.... that and his tendency to get lost in zone coverages. He's probably inching his way ahead of Cooper in my books, but I still prefer DGB and Parker.
