Like every player we release. All are predicted to wind up in NE

There's really no surprise there. If (a big IF) he can stay healthy, he fits perfectly into that system. Little dump off passes and let the receiver do the work.
But there is no way Harvin is worth $10.5 million a year. He needs to restructure or be cut (regardless of who else is interested).

Other than the PaTs don't have a lot of cap room and have some checks to write to Revis etc. And of course to sign every single high profile players who are released around the league.

I'm actually really worried about this and would keep Harvin for that reason alone.
If he goes there, Belidick will turn him into an absolute weapon and DESTROY the Jets next year.

No offense but you actually think it makes sense to keep a player you don't want so someone else who you don't know will sign him can't? OK

i continue to see no reason to get rid of Harvin. he is more helpful than most fourth round picks when he's on the field (admittedly isn't as often as one would hope) and his contract is a really easy pill. fans are concerned about the 10.5 million but ignore the fact that its 0% guaranteed. there is very little reason to believe we will be able to spend 50 million in free agency, our own extensions, and the draft - so cut the spending to 40, have 10 for the season to carry over, and you'll be surprised how much good quality you can afford for 40 million, plus getting to keep Harvin with zero guaranteed dollars. we lose a pick if we release him anyway. just keep him, even at 10.5

Mac might want to allocate those resources to players that are worth that price tag, I'd rather dump Harvin, keep the 4th and throw the bank at Lupati, Maxwell, Cobb/Crabtree/Maclin. Just because we have 50 mil cap room does not mean we still don't need value for money. We could use that 10.5 mil on a player who will contribute in a much bigger way than Harvin.

Cobb and Maclin would cost about the same or only marginally less and require much more guaranteed, which can always create future cap problems and/or suck when players get injured or simply begin to suck. Crabtree already kinda sucks anyway and Maclin isn't leaving Philly. Iupati (not happening) and Maxwell can both easily be afforded with or without Harvin, and even with Harvin we can still easily afford a guy like Torrey Smith or the somewhat sucky Crabtree. and we'd STILL be able to afford another mid-range CB and even a flashy pass rusher. my feeling is you either cut him or keep his current contract, renegotiating to save money this offseason is a waste. the non guaranteed money will motivate him.

Sports reporting nowadays is such a joke. There has been no confirmation from any sources....named or unnamed that the Flats* would be interested in Percy Harvin. It all started with Mike Florio's speculation that if Harvin was let go, the Flats* might be a team that could be interested. profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/02/24/jets-harvin-will-be-talking-soon/Jason LaConfora then jumped on the speculation bandwagon and now NESN is "reporting" that it is being "reported" that the Flats* would be interested in Harvin. All of a sudden the opinion of one person, without any basis in truth and purely speculating.....is now being reported as if there is some actual truth behind the rumor. Of course, if the Flats* did express an interest in Harvin....a player under contract with the Jets.....we could then make a nice little tampering claim out of it.

i also just feel that a talent-hungry team should not be cutting talent just to fall balls deep in negotiations with players you may not even end up signing.
