White Americans want to sit in their homes and have everybody else fight their political and social battles for them, then start whining about double standards when it doesn't happen. Yeah, but no you fucking chowd dickhead. White Americans aren't sitting in our homes "having everyone else fight our political and social battles for us." White Americans are waking up every fucking morning and going to work to support the fuckwads who won't, then coming home and raising our families to know better than to burn down our own fucking neighborhoods when something we disagree with happens. Theory versus reality. Civilized discourse sounds good but what meaningful change has ever resulted from civilized debate? You want something you have to take it. Hate to say it but he is right. And I think it is more of a generational thing than anything. Way too many whiny millennial OWS-esque libtards that ISIS is going to eat for breakfast. The Greatest Generation we are not. Civilized discourse, negotiation and nonviolent protest have lead to many things Lets see, off the top of my head: 1. The American Constitution 2. Many of our amendments to the constitution 3. Most of our laws 4. Women's suffrage 5. My divorce agreement (no wait I got fucked on that one) 6. Independence in India 7. Helped get us out of Viet Nam 8. Many trials 1. The American constitution was toilet paper until the British were driven off the continent by the risk of braver men than ourselves, bloodshed, and war. 2. The Civil War, rioting, violent protests. 3. Redundant. 4. lol 5. - 6. The British Empire was finished and could no longer rule India even if it wanted to. The British Empire was dismantled after WWII. FDR and America had plenty to do with the dismantling of it via one simple word: power. 7. Over 50,000 American deaths had more to do with it than flower-children going ape-shit in American cities. So you're basically wrong here about everything. Civilized discourse, negotiation and nonviolent protest have lead to many things Lets see, off the top of my head: 1. The American Constitution 2. Many of our amendments to the constitution 3. Most of our laws 4. Women's suffrage 5. My divorce agreement (no wait I got fucked on that one) 6. Independence in India 7. Helped get us out of Viet Nam 8. Many trials 1. Discussing things civilly, getting involved and contributing in a positive way and using the process/vote to enact change is wrong in your mind? The American right (libertarians, constitutionalists, conservawhatevers) don't understand this because they're narrow thinking, over indulgent in political escapism, or just ignorant. The left has dominated the right, despite the left being such a tiny minority, for over a century. Conservatives have out numbered their opposition by a HUGE margin yet all they do is lose, and that's because they're hopelessly outmatched and don't even realize what it is they're fighting against.
It's just embarrassing to see. Embarrassing and pitiful.
Very soon they'll never win another national election ever. The numbers just won't be there.

The American way of life, peace and prosperity is based and totally reliant on those laws and the constitution gives us the framework for the majority of us to feel that we are a enough a part of the process so that we should follow those laws. They also give us a better way to change those laws than any other system in the world. The one thing I will agree with in your statement is that I think that you are saying we are giving away many of those freedoms that were outlined in the Constitution due to PC BS and fear. Out of curiosity, earlier you mentioned Who are these amazing countries that are more civilized and cultured that will outlive America? |

We had to fight a brutal war for our freedom before we got to that point. 2 Basically the same as number 1. 3. Again, we fought for freedom to be able to do that. 4. A byproduct of winning our independence so we could do things our way (fair trials, jury of peers, etc) 1. Yes but there have been a lot more brutal wars fought for "freedom" that just had the winners become the new dictators than have been fought with a country like America as the result. 4. We gave most people their freedom and paved a way for a lawful fluid society where laws could change with the times. We are not perfect. The civil war was the result of people not having discourse but many countries got rid of slavery without a war like ours. And I am not against war when all else has failed. There will be times where the government will not listen to the people and vise versa elsewhere more than the US thankfully. I am a veteran and fought for our country, many others can't say the same. I chose to join the military because I felt I owed a debt to our country for our great way of life and to those that served before me. Our whole way of life is built on change through peaceful and civil discourse accept for a few ugly times. The thing that pisses me off about Likeabitch's post is that he is focusing on the negative riots and takers as the ONLY way to make change while actions like that may help people take notice but are hardly ever the real creator of lasting change. |

Yes, we are peaceful now but we had to fight gruesome wars to achieve and sustain that peaceful existence. King George and Hitler were not going to be negotiated with. The Japanese didn't back down until we melted two of their cities. Our ability to use force is what allows us to be peaceful.

That wasn't built with flower pedals and pixie dust. The United States has been one of the most aggressive military powers in human history, starting wars and engaging in wars all over the world. It annihilated an entire people (the Native Americans) to the near last, who formally occupied the entire continent (that's called genocide). It built it's early economy up on slave-labor and became an economic power house by reducing rival industrial nations to piles of rubble. Please spare me your peace and prosperity bullshit if you're going to throw around words like "childish."
