He is the same player Geno is if you extrapolate his numbers He's a solid veteran backup who had his best season under Gailey. I'm not sure what else you can reasonably expect from this QB market. Precisely. Just Geno insurance. And if necessary, Mariota insurance.

Jets not out of the Hoyer pursuit just yet per multiple sources. @mcclain_on_NFL: Mike Maccagnan making one last run to keep Hoyer from his old team, the Texans. He's got money to spend! Looks like mac wants him some Hoyer. No state income tax in TX is apparently a factor. Big Mac is going to need to shovel some green.

Will be interesting to see what the Raiders do. They have the cap space to match any offer we might make -- if he wants to stay in the Bay Area, it could be tough to outbid Oakland.

Cant sit back and do nothing until draft day hoping Mariota drops. Fitz may be the best option from among a pretty piss poor group. Of course I'm just responding to part of that guy's post. If you want a franchise QB prospect you pray for Mariota but in the mean time you use this period to find a "hold the fort" vet in case that dream doesn't come true....

True, it is called FREE agency and players choose where they want to go. I think the money will be there for Iupati, it's ust a matter of where he wants to play. Him being in the Bay Area already may give the Raiders an advantage.

I don't think that signing Fitzpatrick would prevent the Jets from taking Mariota if he falls and they truly covet him. You don't pass on a potential franchise QB for the next decade just because you signed a guy like Fitz to a 1-2 year deal.
