I like the addition of Carpenter, but not thrilled with the idea of a Winters/Oday/Dozier competition for the other guard spot. Curious as to what everyone thinks of options that could be available in the 2nd or 3rd. Guys like AJ Cann, Laken Tomlinson, Tre Jackson, Arie Kouandjio, etc. Is Cameron Erving a possibility? Are there any other realistic options for a guy that can come in and contribute in 2015?

Wouldn't mind trading down with the Browns to 12 and 19...then get T.J. Clemmings and Melvin Gordon with those picks.

Yeah I do too but he wont slip that far. He is the best and most versatile tackle in this draft.

Tomlinson has been my top guy since tbe beginning.
I think the Jets are definitely looking at taking an OL early. At least within the first 4 rounds. It was one of the positions that Maccagnan mentioned the depth at in this class along with WR, RB and OLB.
Everyone knows what a shitty DB class this is so Maccagnan went out and made it a priority to use the majority of our available cash in FA to conduct a total overhaul.
Carpenter is solid and I know that a lot of people are high on Aboushi right now, but we could definitely stand to upgrade. It's not like Breno is anything special either.

I'm a big fan of Tomlinson also. I think a guy that should be on our radar in the 2nd to 3rd round area should be Donovan Smith. A mammoth of a man that projects to RT but I'm sure he could play inside early on and push out Breno by the following season.

Ignore the compensation for a minute, because we would likely have to send another middle round pick back to Cleveland based on the value of the number 6 for the 12 and 19 but that is where I would like to see the Jets and up. And I would take the best available offensive lineman and best available RB at those spots.

I'd prefer Gurley over Gordon to be honest. We don't have to rush him back. He can return punts & kicks until he's fully ready to be a full-time RB again. And he just seem to be better overall than Gordon. Can catch better. More versatile. I don't know. That's just me though.

Either the Browns give us their two 1st round picks or they can go fuck themselves. If the Redskins had to give up three 1st round picks and a 3rd rounder just to move up from #4 to #2 to get RGIII...then Cleveland can give us 12 and 19.

If Mariota is still on the board, we auction the pick. Cleveland and the Saints both have two #1s, Rams are also a possibility. As long as two teams are interested, someone will overpay relative to the chart to get him.

You mentioned AJ Cann and I don't think I've seen a lot of talk about him, but he could be a good pick in Round 3. He seems to be purely a LG but he does it well, starting 4 years for South Carolina. Better in run-blocking than pass blocking but is a smart player, rarely penalized, is strong and consistent. Seems like a kid who will improve his pass protection and then start at LG for a decade for some team. With our signing of Carpenter, our re-signing of Colon, and a group of younger/emerging guys like Aboushi, Dozier and Winters on the roster I'm not sure that adding a guy who is essentially another non-elite body to the mix at OG is the right move, but I like him.
