For a 7th rounder, sure, why not?
Anything more...wait for him to be cut and take our chances in the ensuing Revis-esque bidding war.
Guy can play effectively in Gailey's scheme for a short time while we try to sort out Geno or develop a draftee.

We need a vet QB to replace Vick, it's competition for Geno or Mariota.
If it's for the extra 7th we got for Marshall then it makes sense, plus his Tex contract is chicken feed.
He knows our offense and played well last year, it's a better situation then Vick so what's not to like?
Another job done.

Fitzpatrick has had some decent seasons and what other options are there at this point. Seems like its either Fitzpatrick or Matt Moore who has barely played in 3 years. Fitz is not the long term answer, but a veteran to compete with or backup Geno - I have no problem with it.

I'm okay with a 7th, nothing more.
lol @ Revis-esque bidding war. Based on this FA period I wouldn't be surprised if Fitz hit the open market and we start seeing "Fitzpatrick agent has 3/$24M on table from an AFC West team"
Trading that pick from the Bears (Marshall trade 7th rounder) is fine with me.

Fitz >> Vick. He knows the system and even if we bring in Mariota we'll need a veteran to carry the load for a while. Think of it as Geno insurance.

You give a pick for Fitz because his contract is valuable. He in the last season of his contract. So, only a 1 year commitment. It pays 3,250,000 with no roster bonus. So, that is the cap hit. If he is waived he is sure to require more years/money to sign with a team.

I like it, give them the 7th we picked up from Chicago. The guy had success with Gailey. We have enough skill position talent now that we don't need a savior at QB, just don't turn the damn ball over.

Fills another need and doesn't restrict us if Mariotta falls to us and they end up being high on him/want to take him.

Yup, he's clearly the guy the Jets want as they see him as the best available option for their scheme.
Why risk losing him in a competitive bidding situation when you have the chance to trade a lowly pick for him?
Trade the 7th rounder and get the guy you want, otherwise you might be left looking at a Matt Moore or Colt McCoy.

As long as we get mariota or another young quarterback to go along, I'm down. Fitz is a good quarterback who thrived under chan.
