well this seems ridiculous to me, whether or not Fitz had a decent season should have nothing to do with picking up a QB in this year's draft, the guy is here for a season Completely agree. I thought if anything it made it better to draft Mariota since he would be afforded time to sit and learn.

I think this is about as good as it could be for QB. Fitz is roughly the same or better than other options out there (e.g. Hoyer, Cassel). Even if we draft Mariota or some other quality draft pick it's improbable the guy will be ready to start this year and questionable whether it is in the team's long term interests to start him right away. If we can't upgrade the o-line to a strong position this year then I would rather have Fitz take nasty hits all season than a draft pick we intend to depend on for years into the future. We could potentially set ourselves back years by seeing another draft QB suffer the same treatment Hunter gave Sanchez. Fitz at a minimum gives us an opportunity to shake out a draft or two and try to find a long term option.

i'm no big fan of fitz but he's good enough to push genoo and has played some pretty good games. he' was on some pretty bad teams up in buffalo. he doesn't make the big mistake as consistently as genoooo and sanchez. this jets team is getting a lot better, talent wise. let's hope bowles gets them on the same page really quickly.

My prediction...Geno beats out Fitzpatrick in TC and is the starter in week 1. Fitz will be valuable in Genos growth. Count on it.

I agree although I don't see them drafting a QB high now but maybe a developmental guy like Mannion in the 7th.
