Would love him at the beginning of Round 2 if we go QB or WR at #6.
High effort guy who also happens to be a damn good athlete. He's a bit one dimensional at the moment and needs to do a better job of disengaging, but he could help on obvious passing downs immediately.

He is probably going to be gone by the time we pick in round 2. His stock is rising. I like him because he will put 120% out on the field. Similar to Ray he probably needs to bulk up more if he wants to be starter. I can see the Pats taking him at the end of round 1 or any of the teams that are ahead of us that didn't pick an edge rusher in round 2.

Managed to snag Harold in round 2 for the Jets in a mock draft on another site after Winston fell to the Jets at pick 6 (the bloke managing the Bucs has boner pants for Mariota). Based on my research, I'd be reasonably happy to take Harold in the second round, if he is there, but it seems like many pundits expect him to go late in the first round.

Yeah if that situation were to happen I'd grow a 3rd leg.

That would it be great if it worked out that way, but I think the probability is probably .0001%. Most of the mock simulators have Harold gone before we pick in round 2.

Agree, I think Harold is a quick goner once Round 2 opens on the second day of the Draft (if not earlier), that's why I'm leaning more towards getting our elite defender at #6 and not waiting. I really want to go Defense/Offense or Offense/Defense with our first two picks. As I play around with some mock drafts and positional ratings I'm just starting to think that, as much as I like elite offensive skill guys like Cooper, White, Gurley and Gordon, we should take what this Draft gives us in an Edge rusher / OLB at #6. A Dante Fowler, Shane Ray or maybe a Vic Beasley would give us the kind of explosive player at the second level of the defense we haven't had in a long time, a pass rushing demon a la John Abraham. At the top of Round 2 we can take the best available RB, WR, or even offensive lineman. There will be plenty of each. This draft seems rich in Rounds 2-3 particularly for WRs and offensive linemen. With RBs I think there's a drop off after the first 6 or 7 so I might try to snag a guy like Ajay or Coleman in Round 2. Given the Jets depth chart situation with Ivory (final year of contract, some injury history) and Powell being a very good backup but not a great starter, I think RB is a much bigger need than most people recognize for the Jets. They will likely add someone in the coming days/weeks like Ridley or another low-cost veteran but I'm pretty convinced the Jets are looking for a starting RB in this Draft, and even with the trend of de-valuing RBs over the past few years in the Draft, I think the Jets can realistically only have confidence they're getting a starter by getting one of those Top 5-7 guys.

In looking at our current roster last night, it is apparent that we are danger thin at RB. Ivory/Powell/Richardson isn't even enough for pre-season games. Depending on who was available in Round 3, I would actually consider a RB over a WR at this point. Remember, we did draft 2 WRs last year (even though we don't know what they may be).

Ivory is our starter, he is in the last year of his contract and has injury concerns. Powell looks great as a backup but not as a starter. Richardson simply checks the box as our #3 RB on a depth chart. Most people don't realize how big of a need RB is and I'm convinced that the Jets want to find their future starting RB in this draft. I think Round 2 is the spot to do it.....we may be in a position to take the best RB in the draft not named Gurley or Gordon. That's why I started that poll yesterday.

That's where the best values seem to be in the simulators (OLB #6, RB Round 2). I think a "home run threat" WR could probably be had in the 3rd or 4th round for us if we want one. I was talking up Kevin White in the middle of the season on JI. I LOVE his game. It would kill me for the Jets to pass on him but I know most of the premium 3-4 pass rush prospects may be gone by the time we pick again. I guess the best case for me would be if White , Winston & Mariota are off the board at #6 OR Mariota is there and we have (trade) options. I don't hate Cooper or Mariota. If we took either one, I'd trust the new regime in their evaluations. I think what we do with #6 will really dictate how the rest of the draft goes. It's going to be real hard to miss on that #6 pick this year.

Given that the Jets just signed Ridley, I wonder if Maccagnan is going to bypass running back in the draft this time around.
