It's been a hell of a week for Jets fans. After suffering through two seasons of Idzik, our new front office has been very aggressive. We have no idea if these moves are going to work out yet (or what the long term cap consequences will be), but you have to be a little excited going into next season. I like the work that our new pro scouting department has done on identifying some under the radar free agents (Carpenter and Gilchrist) whose best football may lay ahead. As exciting as all that is, I'm really looking forward to seeing what the Jets do in the draft and in signing undrafted players. Mac comes as a guy with an extensive scouting background so the draft is where his experience should really shine. With that being said, he is my mock. I used the mock draft on drafttek's website to figure out what players will be available when we pick in each round www.drafttek.com/2015-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round1.asp.
Round 1: Shane Ray (Missouri) edge rusher - I had it down to between Shane Ray and Vic Beasly. On tape, I prefer Ray's game a little more. Both are excellent pass rushers, but I think you see more of a variety of moves from Ray. Ray is a guy who looks like he lives for football and he comes from Missouri, which has been putting out very good defensive prospects over the last couple of years (Aldon Smith, Sheldon, Kony Ealy). Ray looks a little lean, but he could fill out a little more and gain strength as he matures.

Round 2:DJ Humphries (Florida) Tackle - a late riser up the boards. Very big and could be our starting LT in 1-2 years once Brick retires. In the interim, he takes over for Breno next season.

Round 3: Phillip Dorsett (Miami) WR - A prospect who has been repeatedly linked to the Jets in the pre-draft process. Arguably the best deep threat in the draft, he offers the ability to blow the top off the defense and will fit in nicely with what the Jets already have in their WR corps. Dorsett also offers value as a returner (which the Jets don't currently have).

Round 4: David Johnson (Northern Iowa) RB - a small school prospect who had a very nice combine and put up good numbers in college. Has the potential to immediately provide an impact as a third down RB due to his impressive pass catching ability. Could be groomed into a starter down the road.

Round 7: Rory "Busta" Anderson (South Carolina) TE - athletic prospect who is a good blocker.

Round 7: Zach Vigil (Utah State) ILB - Good pass coverage ability. Should offer some ability as a coverage linebacker and special teams player early on. May develop into a starter down the road.
