On this date in 1993, The Jets acquired Boomer Esiason from the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for a 3rd round pick. Boomer got off to a solid start with the Jets in '93, opening the season 7-4. Then they lost 4 of their last 5 to miss the playoffs with an 8-8 record. In the next season they would start off at 6-5 only to lose their last 5 and finish 6-10. The Boomer years were not kind to either Boomer or the Jets. With the pick that they acquired from the Jets, the Bengals selected Steve Tovar (LB - Ohio State) who played for 8 seasons in the NFL.
