I would be less than thrilled if we took Gurley at 6. Guy is coming off a torn ACL and he is a running back. Plus there are bevy of good running backs in this draft class. Why not get a Edge rusher to complete this defense or a guy like Amari Cooper who can make our WR corps deadly? Then address the RB in round 2 or 3. I feel MUCH more comfortable with that option. This is a 100% valid point of view, and popular theory at the moment. Playing Devil's Advocate though: --G & G are looked at as premier talents, especially Gurley. Do you feel Fowler or Beasley is as good or safe a bet to be premier talent? --Does adding Amari along side Marshall and Decker make us better than adding Gurley or Gordon to Ivory? --Does this team benefit more from adding another player to our front 7, or adding a playmaker on offense? It's cool and I like your questions and some of those questions are "on paper" type questions. Beasley is a risk at 6 and I agree with you. However Amari Cooper is every bit a playmaker as Gurley would be so that being said I would prefer drafting Cooper...getting an edge guy who has tremendous upside like Preston Smith or Eli Harold in the second, then get a guy like Abdullah in the 3rd and intermingle ivory and Powell in the mix. I just think there is more value there. Don't get me wrong Gurley is a fantastic player I'm just a little iffy about grabbing a RB who is just getting over a major injury. I'll tell you one thing though there are lots of options here for the Jets and I think it's going to be one hell of a draft!

Can you get a better RB or Edge rusher in the 3rd round of draft this year? IMO, the value is in the premier Edge rusher THIS year. The premier Edge rusher makes this team better than the premier RB will. Add a kid like Ray to this D line and secondary and you have the makings of a legit, deep playoff run defense. As much as I like Gurley, I think 6 is too high for him.

Plus it's not like you would be passing on Gurley to draft a safety in the first round. Edge rusher has been all but ignored in the draft by this franchise for way too long. They have drafted some really good interior pass rushers, now it's time to get someone who can fly off the edge and take advantage of playing outside of this elite D line.

I can get on board with that... I'd have Ray up one, but otherwise, looks about right. For the sake of wet dreams; can you imagine what our D will look like if we took ray, and ran a of 46's and dime defenses? Ray-Richardson-Wilkerson-Coples with Revis, Cro and the gang on the back end??

I like Ray but not as much as Beasley or Fowler or even Bud Dupree....I think the latter 2 are bigger players physically and have the capability of being more complete players. Overall, I think Fowler might be the best fit for Todd Bowles system than Ray. Correct me if I am wrong.

Ray fitting a Calvin Pace like role, has questioned by more than a few. What I wonder though, is why people figure we're destined to play in Rex's scheme? Bowles has coached a lot of 40 fronts and may not rely much on a traditional 3-4. For me, Ray blows those guys out of the water when he plays with his hand in the dirt. If he can line up like that here in NY a lot of the time, I'm interested.

Ray is the typical guy who has the the tape but not the elite combine measurables. One thing I've learned over the years is you can't teach heart or motor and Ray is loaded with that. He has a JJ Watt type motor and that shouldn't be overlooked, but he doesn't have the Watt measurables. I'd still rather draft a Parker in the first because of our lack of drafting playmakers early and our need to build the "O". I'd be OK with Ray or even Fowler, but I want offense.

Ray is (to me) almost becoming this year's Bridgewater. I mean, c;mon watch any game. He's a disruptive nightmare. Forget the numbers and shit, the man is in the QB's head. Now, I'd take Parker over them all in heartbeat - but i think we're in the minority about his stock. Not so sure we'll look at him at 6 over Cooper. And at that point, I'd rather have Ray over Cooper. Be happy with either, but if it's not gonna be Parker, then I'm already thinking DGB down the road.
