I wonder what Big Mac had on the table in terms of offers when Williams was sitting there at #6. I would not have had a problem trading back either one spot (Chicago) or two (Atlanta) if it netted us something compelling (ex. a 2nd and 3rd). Trading back two spots with Atlanta I'd still be guaranteed at least one of Leonard Williams, Vic Beasley or Kevin White. Could even have gone back to #9 with the Giants and included Gurley on the list.
Trading back a couple of spots, taking Gurley and then having two 2nds and two 3rds in this Draft would be pretty sick. Gurley, Randy Gregory, DGB, Garrett Grayson and Eli Harold....and still having a 4th and two 7th rounders left would be ridiculous.

I wonder if Mac's evaluation of what the 6th pick was worth changed because Williams was there? If you believe Mac that Williams was in their top 3, at that point, you're not just trading the #6 pick, you're essentially trading for a top 3 player, raising the value of the pick. I wonder if Williams was not there and the Jets still wanted to trade back if Mac would have taken any of the deals that were presented to him.

I didn't consider the fact that the "value" of the pick could change based on the available players. Would love to know how those 10 minutes played out. Would be fascinating to have been in the room.

Do you remember how quickly we made that pick? I am trying to recall, did the Jets sit on it until the nine minute mark or was it submitted relatively quickly? That could say a lot about Mac's convictions.

The pick was submitted with seconds left on the clock. Would seem as if Mac was working the phones, but did not get a good enough offer to entice him to make the move. I agree with CTJets -- would love to know what was going on in the room.

I don't remember specifically, but if I'm recalling correctly, it was closer to the end than the beginning of the 10 minutes.

It was definitely made with seconds left. I am sure an article will eventually come out detailing what the offers for the puck were.
