Here is how I think it will come down. I am going on a totally different path here because at first I believed the Jets will go edge rusher in the 1st round but now I doubt it:
1) Jameis Winston (TB)
2) Marcus Mariotta (Trade- Phi)
3) Leonard Williams (Jac)
4) Amari Cooper (Oak)
5) Dante Fowler Jr. (Wash)
6) Trade with Saints- Jets Acquire 1(13) and 2(44) and Saints select Vic Beasley
1st Round:
13) Jets select Devante Parker WR Louisville. Excellent speed, body control and can go up there and get the ball. Perfect compliment to Marshall and Decker. Decker and Parker can be interchangeable at the slot causing some serious mismatches for an opposing teams secondary.
2nd Round:
37) Jets select Erick Flowers ROT Miami, Fl. Big, strong and massive tackle that will open up some holes for our running backs. Breno struggled playing RT and Flowers would unseat him right away and move Breno to Guard.
44) Jets select Bernardrick McKinney ILB/OLB Mississippi State. A solid strong LB who would be a rock for this defense for many years.
3rd Round:
70) Jets select David Johnson RB, Northern Iowa. The more I see of this guy the more I love him. Size...speed...hands...good vision...he can be a complete back in the NFL. With Erick Flowers on the right side, he will open up some holes for DJ to exploit. He can also be a great pass catching weapon out of the backfield. His stock is sky rocketing so hopefully he is available here.
4th Round:
104) Jets select Hauli Kikaha, OLB, Washington. I can see Kikaha falling to the 4th round here. His pro day numbers were mediocre. But otherwise a very productive pass rusher that can immediately fill in as a pass rushing specialist.
7th Round:
223) Jets select Brandon Bridge, QB, South Alabama. Developmental prospect with a big time arm and athleticism. A good project for Chan Gailey to work on his accuracy issues. If he ever figures it out he can be an intriguing player in the NFL.
224) Jets select Jermaine Whitehead, FS, Auburn. A big headache at Auburn, was suspended for getting into a verbal altercation with a coach. But the talent is there. He can be a capable backup for Gilchrist and whomever Bowles puts out there at free safety and can play on special teams as well.
Well I tried to pick up an edge rusher late here not as thrilled with it as I thought I'd be when I picked an edge guy over a WR in the first round but its still pretty decent. I tried to focus on Bowles type players and I think McKinney, Flowers and Kikaha fit that mold. Then I tried to fix the Jets offense with the speedy Parker and a running back that has Matt Forte like potential in DJ. Thoughts??
