Holy Christ was that a throw from 8. Rolling right, fading back....15 yards on a rope on the numbers.

The thing i worry about with mariota is how much he runs and how important it is to his game to scramble. He takes a lot of hits and it's going to add up.

perhaps judging from too small a sample size but he seems to struggle when touch is needed

The thing i worry about with mariota is how much he runs and how important it is to his game to scramble. He takes a lot of hits and it's going to add up. The kid has 4.4 speed It would be a waste and a shame not to utilize it. He still shows the ability to stand in the pocket and keep his eyes downfield. And unlike a lot of athletic QB's, Mariota knows how to get down or get out of bounds to avoid the big hit. The kids physical tools are off the charts and his intangibles are through the roof. The only question really surrounding him is that he comes from a non-traditional NFL offense, which the NFL itself is moving away from in recent years. Seattle runs a ton of pistol and read option stuff with Russell Wilson. And that's in addition to all of the designed bootlegs and rollouts. I know a lot of people aren't super high on a guy like Darrell Bevell, but he's a legitimate option if Idzik remains and at least he would know how to cater to a QB like Mariota.

Don't get me wrong.. I'm all for mariota coming here. I'd pick him over winston any day of the week. I just worry about all those hits because he can and should be running. With all that running, he's going to get hit. It's just much different doing in the NFL vs doing it in college. The game is so much faster and the guys are bigger.

I respect the hell out of the guys on this thread, but I just don't like Mariotta's game for the NFL. I understand that I am in the overwhelming minority, but I just see him getting killed in the NFL by DL with the way he plays.

The Jets need to pull out all the fucking stops and get Mariota. Geno's back in as starter. They're doing the best they can.

I wasn't that impressed until the last drive or so where he escaped a collapsed pocket and was still able to look down field to throw on the run. Those are untraceable traits.
