Connor Cook may declare for the draft. I think it's more possible than people think.

I can definitely see a scenario where Cook gets taken before Winston. Hawk, I know you dislike Winston, but let's say hypothetically that Winston drops to the bottom 5-10 picks in the first round (and the Jets did not select a QB with their 1st pick), are you pulling the trigger and trading up to pick Winston?

No. The price to move back up without including our 2015 1st would be too much for my taste. We have a huge whole at QB, but we need help almost everywhere. If we do not go QB with our first pick(which I am not completely against), then my preference would be going with a veteran for a few years while trying to develop a guy like Carden or Petty in the third.

I would actually prefer Cook over Mariota and Winston, I know that is probably going to draw some criticism but that's just my opinion .

Not sure if anyone else caught his last night, but when Oregon approached Mariota and his family to discuss a Heisman campaign, they wanted no part of it. Mariota said he was there to win a championship and wasn't concerned about anything else.
I know every QB when coming to the NFL says that is their only motivation, but how many back that up with their actions? Cam Newton certainly didn't. This illustrates how unselfish he is. With his elite athletism and great character, there is no one in this draft that has his potential.
Cooper will be a superstar but if we take him, that means we are stuck with Geno, Vick, or another scrub FA as our 2015 QB with nothing in the pipeline for the future.
Winston is so bad that his reps are telling him to stay in school one more year, which would be the smartest move he will have made in his life. I like Cook, but unless we take him at 5 he will be gone. There are way too many teams picking in the middle of the round that need QBs, (StL, Hou).
We may never been this close to getting the #1 again.

With his elite athletism and great character, there is no one in this draft that has his potential. Cooper will be a superstar but if we take him, that means we are stuck with G-Nope, Vick, or another scrub FA as our 2015 QB with nothing in the pipeline for the future. If Winston's reps are telling him to stay in school, why are they? He stands a good chance on being suspended by the school. Then he won't have a school to play for unless he goes down a division. I think Marriota instincts on when to run are fine. The kid's arm is a NFL arm and his athleticism is outstanding. the only knock on his game is the offense he comes from. And the Heisman trophy is not just a award for him, but for the school in it's quest to sign recruits. There were plenty of guys associated with the program that I am sure were not pleased about his lack of co-operation. So there is certainly two ways to look at it. I hope it does not point to him not willing to be the face of the team and do all those things associated with that.

Kicking off in about an hour -- Alabama v Mizzou.
May be 3 top 15 picks playing in this one: Amari Cooper & Landon Collins for Bama and Shane Ray for Mizzou. The more I watch of Ray, the more I like him, great quickness -- he explodes off the line. He carried Mizzou into this game over the last few weeks.
I really like Missouri's chances in this one -- the Tigers will beat Bama and maybe shut the SEC out of the Championship Playoff.

Still a long way to go, but my upset pick is not looking real good right now.

This one is going to get ugly and what a dumb play by Ray.

They need Mauck to get his head out of his ass and start making some throws.
