Looking at the roster and I'm not sure if it would be wise to use one of our picks on a guard (assuming no trade down for more picks). We currently have: Colon (getting old) Carpenter (should start) Aboushi (a swing OT/OG who played ok at OG but may have more value as an OT) Dozier (hopefully gets a chance to compete for a spot opposite Carpenter) Winters (coming off an injury and had a rough rookie season) Brewer (has experience at OG and OT)
Thoughts?

I honestly think it's not a need. But we definitely need a rock solid tackle (especially on the right side) which in turn will help the guys on the inside.

Yes, we need to go Oline at some stage, and I reckon in the first three rounds we'll have drafted one.

Get me a guy like Donovan Smith or Jake Fisher by the third round as a future Tackle and I'll be a happy camper. Although I doubt either are available with our third rounder I'll still hold out hope that at least Smith is available. No more guards, and that is why I am against drafting someone like Scherff, especially in the first round. We need to address the tackle position and this is a good year to do it.

Smith isn't a bad option, but i like the value much better in the 4th and 5th. Marpet, maybe Sambrailo, Garcia & Green, and my favorite, Shaq Mason baby. That fucking boy would fit our new system like a glove... not to much he can play all over the line.

Its really hard to know what our need is at guard. I assume Carpenter will start at one guard spot, and the other will come down to a competition between Colon, Aboushi, Dozier & Winters -- you can even add James Brewer and Wesley Johnson to the mix. If one or two of the young guys can emerge as solid pros -- we do not have a need -- although we really do not know what we have.
I would much rather if we add a tackle. Brick is not getting any younger and Breno just did not look that good last year. Breno is likely a cap casualty next season if we have a suitable replacement on the roster. The two guys Robr mentions above would be ideal, although I doubt Fisher makes it to 3, maybe a Havenstein or Donovan Smith in the 4th is a possibility.

I'm starting to think that if Mariota and Cooper are gone, the Jets are going to trade down a few spots with someone who wants Kevin White, and then your guy Peat becomes a real possibility.

If Mariota / Cooper are gone -- then trade down is probably our best option, but that supposes that we can find a trading partner. If we are not being offered any value in a trade -- nobody wants to move up to 6, then I have no idea which direction we would go. Could be White/Parker or whichever pass rusher we have as highest rated on our board, maybe even Gurley. I just have no idea how things are going to go down tomorrow night, can't wait to see what happens.

He was one of the most penalized tackles in college football. I can see this hurting his stock somewhat even though his combine numbers were very good.

Taking Peat tomorrow would torpedo Mac's stock with me. Are you kidding? Back to back offensive powerhouse drafts - and we spend our 1st round pick on an average LT prospect?? FUCK OFF. It's a terrible year for LT prospects. 3 out of the top 5 OTs are career RTs and the two lefts are meh in any other draft. It would be such a Jets thing to do that I might not even .

If the Jets trade back into the 10-15 area, then it's certainly a possibility. Guys like Parker, Gurley, etc could all be gone at that point. Personally, I don't buy the trade down talk. If anything, I think the Jets move up for Mariota.
