Did my time in hell, 2 daughters over a decade.
MIND NUMBING TORTURE.
You PAY to sit in a non air conditioned dump to watch your kid for 1.5 mins out of a 3 hour debacle...wasting an entire Sunday afternoon. AFTER you paid for a year of lessons. OH AND NO FILMING, but the DVD is available for purchase.

The place where they have my daughter's recital every year has a bar, and closed circuit TV. I can hang out at the bar the entire time drinking and head in to watch her dance, and head right back out to the bar. It's pretty much the best you can get at one of these things.
