What bothers me is that good honest fans are feeling actual pain..
My brother has been a Patriots fan since 1977 and has stuck with them through thick and thin....
You should have seen his face in '86 when they got pounded by Chicago. He is also a Cancer survivor and the nicest person you could meet.
He feels betrayed. He feels like HE was violated when NE cheated.
Brady and Kraft need to issue an apology to ALL NFL fans, especially good honest folks, although I do not share any love for the Pats..
Thanks a lot Tom for hurting good people, like my brother, who just took for Granted that you were playing honestly...and now feel used..

Why? You have not even seen the rationale for the 4 game suspension. Precedent? When has a suspension not been reduced? Adrian Peterson and Josh Gordon both challenged suspension before an arbitrator and lost. However, people need to be mindful that an Arbitration regarding a penalty for a rule violation is a lot different from challenging a penalty associated with off the field conduct based on the argument that the penalty is too harsh. I'm still at a loss as to how so many can say the suspension will be reduced without knowing more about the supposed defense. Brady can not go to arbitration without testifying. Will he lie under Oath? Think he's tarnished now?, wait to see what it looks like if he lies under oath and one of the equipment guys throws him under the bus. After all, it is pretty clear they think he is a doosch. Plus, there are normally some discovery or disclosure rules associated with Arbitration i.e. the NFL can force Brady to turn over his phone records, texts and emails. People aren't thinking this through. An Arbitration will not end well for Brady unless he really had no involvement, and does anyone really believe that to be true.

It would be nice if instead of suspending Brady, they suspended his offensive line. That punishment would hurt a lot more.

I don't think it will get reduced either. They should just take their medicine and shut the fuck up about it already. Hopefully this also ends Kraft & Goodell's 'friendship'.

oh brother now the talking heads are talking about how brady's punishment is too severe considering what they handed out to ray rice a peterson. considering that hillarity clinton has done far worse and also hasn't handed over anything and is going scot free, kind of makes one think about how razy the world is. the thing is, the nfl kinda didn't know what the right thing to do was with rice and peterson. eventually both of those guys sat out for the season so even if the initial reaction was wrong it was made right. brady needed to be punished. the patsies needed to be punished and the bellichicken needed to be punished. two outta three ain't bad. what hasn't been said is the past 3 cheating scandals have all been associated with josh mcdaniel. he's another guy who probably knew. There is a difference between off the field player conduct issues and cheating. And there are even degrees of cheating. Involving two equipment guys in a several seasons long conspiracy to deflate balls intended to give a player (and likely his team) a competitive advantage is high order cheating. WE can argue forever about its "effectiveness", but the only real issue is whether it was an intentional violation of the rules. No one violates the rules unless they at least feel it will give them an advantage. Then once you are in the realm of rules intended to insure fair competition, it becomes and "integrity of the game" issue. IMO, no Arbitrator will disturb a penalty associated with a professional league's attempt to preserve competitive integrity.

But I can only feel so bad for them because they should have known after spygate. I can't speak for your brother but we heard so many Pats fans defend the team after spygate that it shouldn't have taken two major cheating scandals and shoddy cover ups to get it.

I know a few long time Pats fans and they all are in denial contending either (or all) that: 1) Brady was not involved; 2) Everyone does it; 3) It had no effect on the games

Eh, who gives a flying shit? They're paid to be contrarians and as far as I'm concerned, are both a tiny step above Skip Bayless.

Eh, who gives a flying shit? They're paid to be contrarians and as far as I'm concerned, are both a tiny step above Skip Bayless. It's just amazing how bad sports journalism has gotten. It's like everyone is looking out for their next gig - and okay lots of people do that - but that shouldn't mean that the only way to get ahead is to be a dipshit, pot-stirring moron. The amount of tsk-tsk going on on ESPN last night was flat-out embarassing. Each talking head trying to make their obsequiousness seem more genuine than the other guy. Pathetic. And now I remember why I don't watch ESPN . . .
