Professionalism, much less basic adult behavior, is in short supply these days. Best of luck with your future French Fry-o-lator career OP. So is being treated like a human being by many large employers Sadly, both of you are right.

Don't burn your bridges, unless a large dinosaur is chasing you down.

Your wife got the call as the emergency contact and probably thought you were dead on the side of a road somewhere or abducted by aliens or something This! I would be worried at first if my husband's work called me as the "emergency" contact and said he didn't show up for work. Thinking of the worst: in a car accident, caught in a shooting or robbery, in the hospital with a heart attack, who the hell knows. Then, when I found out he was just being a dick by quitting work to see a movie, oh yea, I would be angry. No consideration for the wife's feelings -- both for the worry when the boss called and for not knowing ahead of time that you quit. Maybe if you had talked it over with the wife beforehand, she wouldn't be mad. Did she know you planned on quitting in two weeks anyway? Did she know you had another job all set to start? Will having no paycheck for two weeks going to be a hardship? ... inquiring minds and all that. Just trying to give a wife's perspective. Lolz, you guys with your "stfu and go make me a sammich" responses. If any of your wives work and decided to quit their jobs without telling you, then go to a movie, and you get called by her boss, would you be upset? you musta missed the part where he said it was a DINOSAUR MOVIE. common. (and for the record: a movie about recreating dinosaurs from DNS in mosquitoes and "significant plot holes and inconsistencies" should never be associated with each other. Its like the old saying about going to an orgy and complaining about the quality of the wine. PERSPECTIVE! GET SOME! )

So is being treated like a human being by many large employers Sadly, both of you are right. My company just did a 5% RIF, and we lost some people, not in my particular group, but our division, even after having our best year ever... possibly. Those folks came into work on Wednesday and didn't get any notice, just "best of luck in your future endeavors". I've seen it time and time again; there's no loyalty from the company side. That said... I strongly believe you do the right thing even when the other guy doesn't, so you really should give notice if you're leaving. Now your boss (assuming he's not a total douchebag) is left in the lurch in the transition. I may not like my job all the time, but my boss is a decent dude and I wouldn't want to leave him with a whole bunch of loose ends.

So I have another job lined up that starts in two weeks. I pulled into my jobs parking lot and said screw it I'm quitting today and just drove away. It was a call center and fucking sucked so I gave no notice. Left the parking lot and went to go see Jurassic world we both my new found freedom. Long story short my boss calls my emergency contact who is my wife. She freaks calls me ruining my Jurassic world viewing. And now km the duck for lying about going to work today and quitting my job. Duck being married overrated villainy. Seriously though hampur other than being a selfish pig and trying to enjoy an early movie how am I such an inconsiderate as what? gang

all bets and protocols are OFF when it comes to dinosaurs. so you're good. tell the wife we said so, and then tell her to make you a sandwich, nekkid. yeah. Jurrasic World? What are you 10? Was Minions sold out? You should have went to a bar. But as for leaving without notice, F Them. They wouldn't think twice about doing it to you so good to see you got them first.

Thankfully I have never had to deal with utter douchbaggery at work. Trust me I have my dimwits and douchebags I deal with, every company has them, but everywhere I have worked they have treated me well, understood personal time and asked for me to come back when there was an opportunity. I have also managed my career so that I have never waited until the end of a project to find something new but I was honest with everyone and left in good standing. That being said I can see if there was some amazing reason to leave I may have done it. Going to the noon showing of a movie rather than waiting for the 6:00 show doesn't cut it in my book.

And if it wasn't jetsrule128 then it was some other asshole that I can't remember their name. You have your azzhats discombobulated.
You're thinking of SBlll. He would post some soul-searching earnest query...and guys would spend three days posting heart-felt responses based upon their own life experience..then we would realize, he never posted again or responded in the thread..because he was off in a sDandned iZland mall mindleslly playing pinball without a care in the world.
Now this is a jetsrule thread
Jetsrule:
hi guys anyone catch big brother last night I am going to a meet and greet with the stars
Jetsthings:
STFU you stuttering prick, you homo, we will kill you
jetsrule:
did you watch it
