August 1, 1969The Chicago Charities College All Star Game was played annually in the preseason between the NFL Champs and a College All Star team from the 1930s to the 1970s. As the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Jets would play in the 1969 game on August 1 at Soldier Field. Over 74,000 fans came out to see the Jets take on the All Star team. Otto Graham would coach the All Star team. Graham had recently been fired as coach of the Redskins and wanted to use the game as a forum to prove the and the NFL that he still belonged. The Jets would jump out to a 13-0 halftime lead, but survived a 2nd half All Star Rally to edge to college boys, 26-24 behind 2 Matt Snell TDs.
