August 2, 2003The Jets opened up the 2003 preseason with a matchup against the defending Super Bowl Champion Buccaneers in the American Bowl in Tokyo. The Jets would open up an early lead ona 1 Yd TD run by Lamont Jordan, but the Bucs would dominate the rest of the way, winning 30-14. An old friend and and old friend's brother would lead the Bucs. Pictured below is Thomas Jones, who rushed for 45 yards and a TD in the game. Chris Simms was 8-11 in the game with a TD for the Bucs. The Jets would go on to finish with a disappointing 6-10 record that season.

Also on August 2: August 2, 2011Jets re-sign David Harris to a 4 year contract worth $36 million with over $29 million in guarantees. At the time, it was the largest guarantee ever for an inside linebacker.

I took a out 5 clients to this game. It was being played in the Tokyo Dome, a baseball stadium where the Tokyo Giants played. My company was paying so I call and ask for 6 tickets on the 50 yard line and get told I can buy first base seats or 3rd base seats. Ugh. Anyway got to go to a party where all the players were a day before the game and even ran into a couple of jets at the local strip club

What made the Jets so bad that year? Couldn't stop the run. Chad got injured in the preseason game against the Giants and missed a good portion of the season.

What made the Jets so bad that year? 6-10 isn't SO bad... I was 6 for 10 on my wedding night... That doesn't do it justice -- they were TERRIBLE against the run. Didn't the Raiders run on something like 20 consecutive plays to start a game?
