The Jets would sign Free Agent CB Ty Law to a 1-year contract. The JEts had high hopes heading into that 2005 season, coming off a playoff appearance the prior year that ended in an OT loss in the Divisonal Round in Pittsburgh. Law would have a solid season for the Jets, leading the league with 10 interceptions including a pick 6 of Tom Brady in a week 15 loss to the Pats. Unfortunately, Ty Law's performance would be one of the few bright spots for the Jets that season as they finished 4-12.
Herm Edwards would move on to KC after that 2005 season and the Jets would start the rebuild, bringing in Eric Mangini from NE and using 2 first round picks on offensive linemen, bringing in Brick and Mangold.
