With respect, Ragu, I disagree with the stuff in bold. A) Don't think there is any "because" that justifies the lapse in judgement from IK to break a teammates jaw. Irrespective of the situation, Bowles is right, you can't hide from a teammate and its childish to attack someone that would eventually pay you. B) Even if you accept Ryan Clark's depiction of the events (which have IK as a source of course and differ from other accounts I've read today), does that mean glass jaw Geno deserved to get his jaw broken? No - glass jaw Geno deserved to fork over $600. There is an implication from this that somehow his poor play the past two years justify someone breaking his jaw - that he had that coming to him that is simply wrong. The kid might be a jerk, but jerks don't deserve to have their jaws broken. Put it this way - does anyone think that Sheldon deserves to have his jaw broken? (to be clear, I don't). If you don't, but somehow think that karma justifies what happened to glass jaw Geno - how do you justify that because inarguably Sheldon's behavior has been more directly harmful to the team (5 drug test failures, arrests, etc.)? I understand that. Lets chalk it off to different sides of the track then. Where I grew up where I lived you owe me 600 fine pay me until then we are off talking terms. Point in my face and disrespect me while still owing me 600 im shattering your jaw. I get that. But let's take that situation you are talking about - would you put yourself at risk by shattering your debtor's jaw if you knew that the debtor presented zero flight risk and would have no choice but to pay you eventually (all IK would have to do is threaten to embarrass glass jaw Geno about this in the media and I don't care how much of a jerk you think he is, Smith would have paid to avoid the coverage given he has been trying to rebuild his reputation)? Somehow, I don't think you would. The other thing, and I think the important thing is that whatever side of the tracks IK and glass jaw Geno grew up on - they don't live there anymore. They are professional athletes and violent behavior among them off field is simply unacceptable precisely because of these kinds of risks. We've heard all camp how Bowles has been going at the message of avoiding fights in camps. That may have given glass jaw Geno the false sense of security you'd need to have to belittle IK for whining about his flight money. Ultimately, to me thats on IK who in this situation is the ultimate loser because he may never play again. And Ryan Clark, who claims to be IK's mentor or buddy or whatever, and anyone else who comes out to defend him now should ask themselves why they weren't helping him prepare mentally to be a successful professional too. It angers me that IK took away the QB we've been developing, but really, I feel sorry for the guy. Geno will get paid this year and even if he doesn't make it with us someone will hire him as a backup and he'll be set up for life financially if he just hires anyone reasonably smart to manage his finances.

Quarterbacks have to be extraordinary people. I can't stand when people brush off incidents like Johnny Manziel's by saying "what did you do in college?" I don't want me quarterbacking our football team. The vast majority of these guys are mature past their years. They are leader of men and live and breathe football. No I'm not saying Smith is as bad as Manziel.
Between being late for the meeting because of a "time zone" difference (before a HUGE game) to getting kicked off the plane (yeah it was a misunderstanding supposedly, but I don't see Peyton Manning putting himself in that position) to getting in a fight with a backup defensive player... well as others have said where there is smoke there is fire. I don't think is a bad guy by any means, but he's immature which was painfully clear by his decision to take a selfie shortly after getting his jaw broken. Immature people aren't good leaders and they certainly don't make super bowl winning quarterbacks.
I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt this year because he was saying all the right things and he has all the talent you could want, but nothing has changed. We are never going anywhere with . We just wanted to convince ourselves there was a chance. Immaturity and inconsistency are his demise.
Fitzmagic time. I hope he locks down the job so when comes back he can hold the clipboard and coach up Petty.
Edit: Also, this doesn't mean I don't primarily blame IK for this. He's a real dummy, but Geno is important to the team and he isn't.

All I know is, two years ago during the draft I kept saying NO-GEENOOOO!!! And then they did it. I knew he wasn't as good as they said in college, but would they listen to me? Noooooo.....

At this age no. My temper has cooled a bit. At IK age yes im sure I would have. I hit my foreman in the head with a brick hammer by the coffee truck because he as usual was riding my ass and pointing in my face talking total bullshit in public to act like a tough guy. That job paid 33 dollars an hour at 19 union job local 1. Good thing I had my pops ywho had me back to work on the federal prison on 36 street in about 4 hours. But i didnt know that when i hit him i thought right after fuck im fucked my grandfather is going to shoot me. Hes young he has a temper and Geno is a bitch with a big mouth only because he thought he wouldnt get fucking hit. Now he knows different it proves his whole saving face trying to protect a manhood that he never had when he posted that moronic instagram ill be back. I hope IK learns to control his temper like i did but people like Geno deserve an IK in their life every now and then.

I'm sure Ryan Clark, friend of IK, is being completely honest and not just trying to salvage the career of his friend by spinning this to look like its Geno's fault. That's sarcasm for some of you whose sarcasm meter is broken. I'll go by what the Head Coach did and said. He cut IK immediately and said he sucker punched Geno. He's not making that up, he's getting that info from the guys that were there in the locker room. So, honestly, Ryan Clark can go EAD.

Let me tell you something if he hits hard enough to crack a jaw in 2 places if it was a SUCKER PUNCH Geno would still be knocked the fuck out. That was no sucker punch trust me

If thiis is true, glass jaw Geno is never seeing the field again as a Jet. I don't see how Bowles can give him the keys and say the team is his. This...don't see Smith coming in this season unless the wheel's come completely off. I think we've seen the last of Genope.

I heard the interview live and while I don't know at all what really happened, I take Ryan Clark's version with a huge grain of salt. His version came off more as a guy calling in to defend his friend I.K. then anything else. you're right, it did sound like he was defending his friend...............but there is no fukkin way in hell Geno shouldnt have already paid the man. IK waited for his money, was probably embarrassed in front of his high school and whole community for having this big event in which the star didnt even show. I'd be fukkin pissed too...then the little bitch ass doesnt want to at least reimburse me for the money laid out....and then is in the locker room in front of everybody talking shyt???!?!? Tell you what, my career might be in jeopardy but so is yours punk. ....You probably lost any chance of being a starter and cashing in on MILLIONS when the season is over for $600, how you feel about that Geno?

If you don't brace yourself and grit your teeth and your lower jaw is just naturally hanging, then someone who knows how to throw a punch is gonna take the fuckin thing off. I think Geno pointed in his face then turned side on to his locker and IK just planted one square on the corner of his jaw, if he wasn't expecting it I'm not surprised it's broken. The fact he did not spark Geno tells me he can take a punch.

glass jaw glass jaw Geno is dead to me. I'm serious too..... As a #1 QB of an NFL football team and as a Man he's a straight up pussy for how he handled that. A very petty one at that. You're a fucking millionaire just hand him 6 Benjamins and be done with it FFS.... Everybody aboard the Fitzmagic express! let's hope it doesnt crash...
But we don't know how he handled it, it's all hearsay.
I would agree that glass jaw glass jaw Geno plays a role, and maybe could have done something with IK outside of the locker room, but how do we know IK just didn't flip out? He has a record of doing this before?
Ray, I hear ya....and yes people on this board already have their mind made up about glass jaw Geno, this incident or not...and yes this gives them even more reason to pile on.....BUT.....let's take out the finger in the face, lets take out the "what you gonna do about it", let's also take out the report that glass jaw Geno said he came to him and said he was gonna pay it "soon"............... Dude, you owed the man $600, PAY the man. In fact a gracious way to handle it for an NFL player would have to be to reimburse him, contribute 5k to the charity and then agree to another appearance at the school. That's how you make it right. I've never been one to jump on the hate glass jaw Geno train but I can't get with a grown man fukkin with another man's money and not expecting an ass whuppin behind it.

I hear you Ray, but where there's smoke there's fire... How he handled the draft, to the dick pic, to the LAX incident, to the time screw-up for a meeting....it should be clear by now that this guy doesn't have any leadership skills and is a grade A douche... Ryan Clark's take on it falls in line with what we've been hearing from all the other media hacks....if it smells like a duck, and quacks like a duck.............. and no that doesn't excuse IK at all. glass jaw Geno is childish for not paying back $600 and IK is childish for punching him over $600 Too many conflicting stories, because some in media have agendas.
Here is Josina Anderson's take:
A source who spoke with glass jaw Geno Smith told me the Jets quarterback says he approached IK Enemkpali around the start of camp prior to the big incident that occurred Tuesday. The source said Smith did this after sensing a lingering issue between them after he was unable to attend Enemkpali's offseason event, as it felt like the now former Jets linebacker was not speaking to him. The source emphasized, Smith tried to diffuse the situation at that time by offering to pay $600 to Enemkpali that Smith said his former teammate claimed was owed for both a plane ticket and car service.”
Look, I just want the facts, I can't bury glass jaw Geno just because...
Admittedly, I'm not a Fitzpatrick fan and want glass jaw Geno to succeed, but it still has to be for the right reasons.
why didnt he say the words with the cash in hand?? not....oh I got you...i know it's been a month but I havent had time to hit the atm because I been too busy sending bitches pics of my dick
