August 15 has been a slow day in Jet history. 2 first round picks were signed, 35 years apart. August 15, 2007:Darrelle Revis signed his rookie contract An 35 years earlier, August 15, 1972, Jerome Barkum, the 9th overall pick out of Jackson State would sign his rookie deal with the Jets. Barkum played 12 years for the Jets as both WR & TE. He caught over 300 passes -- all for the NY Jets, the only team he would ever play for. Between, Barkum, Rich Caster and Eddie Bell, those 1970s teams had some decent weapons, too bad they did not have much else.

can't say enough about revis. given the jet's draft hitory it's still to imagine they landed such a great player. as for barkum, he was a decent player. those 70's were some pretty wasted years. 12 years 300 passes that's 25 per season average.
