Sump is running, ground is soaking wet, still raining a little. This weather sucks! I see where you guys got blasted again. Hope everyone is doing OK.
ETA: Just for shits and giggles I track how much water I am pumping out of my cellar sump each time it runs and how that translates to daily and weekly amounts. Latest is 1,506 gallons a 24 hour period and 10,544 gallons a week. That's a lot of fucking water bitches!
PS: That's nowhere close to the worse I've ever done.

Whats happening? It's not raining here as far as I know. Didn't hear about any rain. Nor'easter came through yesterday and dropped 4+ inches of rain and it's still raining. I was watching the weather and they did a piece on LBI getting slammed so I thought you guys must have got some of this shit as well. No?

That sucks. I feel your pain too. Any time we get a ton of rain in a short period of time, our garage tends to start flooding. Luckily it doesnt get to the actual basement, but its a pain in the ass. I learned early on to store stuff raised off the floor.

Who the fuck built your basement in a lake? My house was built in the mid 30's. I once saw an old map of the town and there was a creek that went along the rear of all the houses on my street. Back then, nobody gave a shit about where you built a house, even on top of a freaking stream. I'm the dumbass though, since I bought the damn place. Bane of my existence.

Your house on a flat lot, or built in on a slope?

I thought I was going to be working inside, I got a job doing a mantle and a fire place facade thingy, customer swore she would have room for me to spread out and work in the garage. Nope, but we had a 1" of rain.

Your house on a flat lot, or built in on a slope? Pretty flat. I am the second house just below the bottom of a couple of small hills plus there is a fair amount of ledge before my lot. My lot is fairly level with some of that ledge sticking into the rear corner of it. It's about a 1/4 acre lot.

Well then you're definitely in a bad spot. Water doesn't drain through ledge, it sits on top of it. And you're at the bottom of a hill, where all the water collects. You're yard is flat, so you cant even install drains on the high side of your house and drain the foundation by gravity.
Get a back-up sump.

There is still a slight slope away from the side and rear of the house. That is what is getting my pumped water at this point. I am pumping it about twenty feet away from the house foundation and then it goes into some of the perforated ribbed black pipe for dispersion. Seems to work on light to moderate sump pump output. I haven't had to see it operate under extreme conditions (pump cyling six gallons every minute) yet and hope I don't have to. That has only happened once to me. Scary shit. The water pressure was so great on my foundation I had a 3 inch fountain coming through a small hole in my cellar floor that time. This latest setup is much different than the previous one so I'm not sure how it would handle extreme conditions.
