Yup. Starting our series before Nashville-Anaheim is even over. Thought we would get at least one more day off, but I kind of like the two days off. Time to rest up, but not long enough to change up the normal routine. |

Had a lot of things symbolically come together with the Isles this weekend, so thought I'd share. My grandmother passed on Thursday night (she was 93, very tired, it was time...) She lived a stones throw away from the Coliseum in East Meadow and I would go to Isles games with my grandpa all-the time when he was alive. I'm in Jersey now, so as we are getting ready to go to the wake on Sunday, get a call from my friend, ticket to the luxury suite for Game 6... Can't go obviously. Can't even watch much of the game... wake over so family member in Merrick has people over for coffee, etc, get there midway through the third... everyone yelling in screaming when JT tied it up. We all watch the 1st OT ... so close... people leaving, having to race back to hotel to catch the 2nd OT. Get to the GC Hotel (where Spano almost killed the franchise), to watch the winner with my son in the lobby bar. Crazy night, criss crossing my old haunts and memories to see this team play its most epic game in a generation.
I consider our victory cosmic payback from my grandparents for turning down that luxury box ticket for Game 6...

My brother scored two tickets in the 100's for game 1 but they normally lose when he watches them live. Hopefully Pitt and Washington beat the shit out of each other and we get by Tampa.

Isles in 6.
Without Stamkos, NY will once again have the best player on the ice in this matchup.

I like the extra days in between. I get to savor the season that much longer. And the extra recovery days will help if they advance to next round.
