this bears watching. there were all kinds of rumors Harbaugh was going to leave Stanford and take the miami job before he finally left for the 49ers. He's the type of coach that while he may wear out his welcome, he can also quickly turn a team into a contender.
The Miami Dolphins were the first NFL team with a coaching vacancy this season. Their owner, Stephen Ross, has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to Harbaugh's current home at Michigan. Other franchises are sure to follow with their own openings, but the Wolverines coach doesn't plan on discussing any of them as they come up.
When Harbaugh, who grew up a few miles from his current office in Ann Arbor, was introduced as Michigan's coach last January, he said he hoped to be in his hometown for a long time. He compared his career to that of an architect. He said he's built some nice homes at previous stops, but always had to move on to the next one shortly thereafter.
"I'm at that point, where even though you've done well and built some pretty nice homes, you have to do it again. You have to prove it again," Harbaugh said. "And I'd really like to live in one permanently.That's what I'm very hopeful for here."
