Have you seen the dash cam video? Looks pretty damning. I bet the defense picks apart the charges one by one as opposed to looking at them as a whole, guy gets off with no murder.

I saw this on the news, they only showed up to when the kid hit the ground and not the final 12 rounds fired. Does not look good for the cop, all the Chicago Pols are throwing the cop under the bus,, I think he sees serious jail time.

Ragu, you're good at these, what say you? Pretty much nailed Pistorius from the start. You got a guy on pcp with a knife disregarding multiple police orders to put it down and walking away from multiple cops. City threw him under the bus in that press conference and the officer probably should have just dropped him not killed him especially the gunshots while he was on the ground. Video never tells the whole story but I cant see the cop getting away with this. But kids still a fuckhead being on pcp and committing suicide by cop. This is another potential gang banger which this city is full of and maybe a cop thats just been around it to long. When cops told me do you have a gun on you I say yes i lay down and put my hands on my head will never understand these guys thinking they are entitled to do wtf they think they want to do when they want to do it. Once the cops show up you fucking cooperate get bailed out and lawyer up for court cops are just there to do a and b. Why these guys think c can be settled there is beyond me. You handle c in court. That being said I wait for the story from both sides I find it hard to believe this cop just all of a sudden went off and pumped bullets into this guy for no reason other then to stop him dead in his tracks. I think at most the cop is looking at manslaughter no way its first degree murder knife cop thinking gun plus pcp is dangerous. I need to see that BK video from across the street. That video is way off on something , even the other officers seem way to calm i think we missed the show before this shooting. Cop thought it was a gun? Hard to know disturbing video to say the least |

When I first heard about this I was pretty outraged then as I did some more research I found out the kid was belligerent and high on PCP and holding a knife. Those things in and of themselves do not justify death but it helps paint the picture. Hardly any of the media coverage I saw before googling this incident mention the knife or the PCP.
The worst thing for the cop is that the other officers appeared to be calm and the kid appears to be walking away. That is pretty damning. However, first-degree murder is a pretty tough case and I think they know that. Might just be for political reasons to be honest. I can see some sort of criminal negligence or manslaughter for sure if they can prove that he was not in danger. I also heard he is ordering a bench trial.
I am surprised not more people are outraged at the obvious buddy system going on between Rahm and DoJ. Rahm was Obama's right hand man and that is what kept the video under wraps this long. They can say they didnt want to incite anymore violence b.c of the timing of the incident and the Michael Brown shit but if this was another city I think the DoJ would have been on them like flies on shit.

But not many people have experienced c. Or the d, e, f and g that comes after that. They've never had to sit in a bullpen for 8 hours, a hole after a hole gets brought in and won't sit the fuck down and shut up...instead yell about their rights and phone calls through the bars at the COs trying to run the front desk. |

I've defended plenty of police officers in Civil Rights cases and I've never had a case where something bad happened after the citizen complied with the commands of the officer. (not saying it doesn't happen though --- just ask this guy)

Probably a symptom of working in that liberal-created cesspool known as CHicago, all that violent chaos and hostility takes its toll, but it is..what it is. It will be difficult to sustain the First degree murder charge though, this really doesnt fit. That type of political pandering will come back to haunt them if he beats that charge, which any competent atty should be able to do.

Day in, day out, working in the worst areas of our country seeing horrible things occur definitely takes it toll. Im not sure how much sensitivity training can help. We talk about soldiers with PTSD but I wonder how many cops are dealing with similar issues. It is not natural to see and deal with what these people have to on a daily basis. I understand how they can have a cynical view of the world. Doesnt excuse the behavior but it definitely brings context. Its amazing that anyone wants to have a career in law enforcement anymore. |

They did a study and a guy with a knife on PCP can go like 20 feet and stab you 4 times and then go back before you realize he even moved. Stay in school.
