Tis the season to start wishing! Tell me you're thoughts?
1 -- OLB L. Floyd - Georgia .....(BPA given our needs) 2 -- WR C. Coleman - Baylor ....(Coleman can compete with Smith next year for the lid-lifting role + I think he's just plain better) 3 -- OT W. Beavers - W. Michigan ....(has the pedigree and potential to be a LT) 4 -- RB K. Hunt - Toledo ....(supremely underrated Matthews type RB) 5 -- LB C. Maggit - Tennessee ....(Need new blood here) 7 -- QB/OW T. Boykin - TCU ....(take a chance, see where it goes. T. Taylor v.2?)
I'm definitely guilty of getting this guys are the "best" value as some may be taken earlier.

Hate Floyd in the first. He's a guy that doesn't have a position in the NFL unless he goes weakside 4-3 OLB.
Offense first round baby....this is the year it happens.

I am not a big fan of Floyd either. Haven't studied any tape, but I have watched a lot of Gerogia football over the past few years. Good player -- but I am not convinced he will be a complete enough LB to be a first round value. Good natural pass rushing skills and decent in coverage, but there have been games of his where he has been invisible and he will need to add strength to hold the edge against the run.
OT or WR in the first, please.
I like Coleman in the 2nd and Hunt in the 4th -- don't know much about Beavers.

I concede i've watch very little of Floyd, he just seemed like he fit the bill, and i have a hard imagining who will be there in the 20-32 range on offense..
Any ideas? Elliot/Henry? At this point I don't feel comfortable with any WR not named Treadwell in the first (though i still have to do a lot of research)..

Other than an O lineman or Treadwell I don't see any other play makers worth grabbing in the first. Coleman in the second round would be a massive upgrade over what Devin Smith was last year. Coleman gives you the ability to stretch a defense but also has a short and intermediate game as well, something Devin Smith has none of. Jaylon Smith might be interesting if the Jets are drafting in the 23 range.

Don't care for these undersized passrushers
Didn't want Maybin. Didn't want Mingo. Don't want Floyd.
If we're picking in the 18-25 range, then I think the value is going to end up being along the OL.
At this point, I think it's the perfect place for a kid like Alexander. A mauler who can start from Day 1 at RG and finally give us some push in short yardage situations.

This is where I would hope to see us go -- also seems like an area where the quality of the draft may line up pretty well with our needs. Assuming Tunsil and Stanley will be gone well before we pick, could still be OT options like Taylor Decker, Conklin, Ifedi available late teens/20s. WR in late first could be a guy like Josh Doctson, Michael Taylor or Coleman, who I doubt lasts until mid/late 2. Although these guys are going to move around so much between now and the draft that none of us really have any clue right now as to who might go where or when. If we went defense again, pass rusher is a need, but man, this team desperately needs to get younger and more athletic on the offensive side of the ball.

I believe in this approach and think it makes the most sense. My only question (and i ask sincerely, not to bait) is how the recent first round "cant miss" guards drafted early like Chance Warmack and Brandon Scherff have done? Anyone know. i was so mad when we didnt pick Warmack, but i also havent heard a ton about him since...and that could just be the position...

That Alabama Oline was stacked and hid a lot of his weaknesses.

Don't know if he's dealt with injuries since or not. All in all, I'd say the only bust out of the recent crop of highly touted guards has been Jonathan Cooper.

Fair enough and given where we will be picking, snagging a RT or G wont raise eyebrows anyway.

I thought Larry Warford was the better prospect and much better value in the third round that year.

I've watched a lot more Floyd since posting this; he's not quite physical tour-de-force I'd read about. Oline and a potential marquee Running Back seem like fits in the mid-20s... though we'll see what defensive prospects skyrocket during the Feb-March stretch.
