The Titans owner Harry Wismer hired Sammy Baugh to be the first head coach of his expansion AFL team.
Baugh, a Hall of Fame QB for the Redskins from 1937-52 led the Titans to a 14-14 record in his two seasons as head coach. He resigned following the 1961 season.
