January 26, 1962
In a trade with the Boston Patriots, the Titans acquired QB Butch Songin. In exchange for Songin, the Titans sent DB/LS Dick Felt to Boston. Songin, who would be 38 years old by the time the season began, opened the 62 season as the Titans starter. After a 7 for 16 appearance in the opener, a 28-17 win against the Raiders, in which he threw for just 114 yards, he was replaced by Lee Grosscup. Songin would only start one more game for the Titans, a week 5 loss to his former team. He retired after the 62 season, having appeared in 4 games for NY, starting just twice and finishing the season at 42 of 90 with 2 TDs and 7 Ints.
