A day after agreeing on a compensation package with the New England Patriots, The NEw York Jets officially hire Bill Parcells to become their 11th head coach, replacing Rich Kotite.
In order to sign Parcells, who was still under contract to New England, the Jets agreed to give up 4 draft picks to the Pats. NE did not get much out of the 4 picks they got from the Jets:
1997 3rd round: Cedric Shaw, RB Iowa 1997 4th round: Damon Denson, G, Michigan 1998 2nd round: Tony Simmons, WR, Wisconsin 1999 1st round: Andy Katzenmoyer, LB, Ohio State
Of the four, only Simmons played more than 3 seasons and in his 5-year career he would total just 58 receptions. As for Parcells, he quickly returned the Jets to relevance after two miserable seasons and quickly had them within one game of the Super Bowl, ony to fall to Denver in the 98 AFC Championship.

holy crap, i forgot the patsies got so many draft picks from the jets. those on top of the ones they got for curtis martin and it's no wonder they had such a good team when the bellichicken took over. and i get the part about those guys not doing much but they were still bodies and if they played a couple of seasons then it meant the patsies didn't have to fill their spots for a while.
what did the jets get for the bellichicken?
