I can't agree with any idea that involves a trade up. Unless we are sure we are going to get that edge rusher difference maker this defense so desperately needs. This draft class isn't studded front to back with blue chips, or even red chips. There's about 12-15 prospects that smell like roses, and the rest could just as easily be 2nd rounders in any given year... For that reason, I don't mind trading up if it means going up to get a guy we love, versus waiting to see what "falls" into our lap.

If you're going to give up a first round pick in the 2017 draft, you'd be doing your due diligence first on which players may declare for the 2017 draft and see how deep that draft could be.
I don't know much about this draft, but the consensus seems that it looks fairly weak after the first half of the first round, but apparently the 2017 draft could be a lot stronger.

That's sounds all fine and dandy but as mentioned elsewhere, looking at next year is fools gold. Last year at this time people were all about 2016 - "look at all the franchise QBs next year, Connor cook, cardale Jones, Christian Hackenberg...." I'd wager my semi-functional fleshrod that none of to above go in the first round... Possibly not event first 2

I know sometimes I needle you draftniks some, but I would be completely lost without posts like this. Nice job.

So you would only trade up for an edge rusher and not a QB? There may be a slight misunderstanding going on here . There's only 1 QB(wentz) I might consider trading up for in this draft, but since I think that player is gone at 2 to Cleveland, I don't see the point in even considering it. The cost for us would be prohibitive imho considering how much our GM values draft picks. Now lets say for instance that the Jets have a high value on Noah Spence and he makes it to say pick 13 with the Eagles. I might consider trading up for him from 20 . If the Raiders get this kid and pair him with Mack, and he turns into what everyone thinks he will be, that defense and that QB will put that Raiders team ahead of us if they're not already ahead.
The question is how highly do the Jets value Spence ?
For the sake of this conversation, I believe that Myles Jack and Jaylon Smith will already be off the board. I am not a fan of Goff and I think Lynch is a major project who will need at least 2 years on the bench .

ParadisA four round mock draft on the front page of NFL.com has the Jets selecting Jacoby Brissett from North Carolina State in the third round. I've never heard of him. Any clues on him? This draft has the Jets going Leonard Floyd then Jarran Reed in the first two rounds, while Noah Spence slides to the Giants' second round pick. The Rams take Lynch at #15.

Haven't watched much of him, so i can't say a whole lot. Haven't had good reason to either. I'll tell you what though.. Man do I like Brandon Allen. That guy has, moxy? I don't know what else to call it. He's not given nearly enough credit for the way he reads defenses and makes some killer throws in traffic. I honestly think he's a starter down the road somewhere.

I just started watching him and he is an intriguing prospect. If he was 2" taller with bigger hands he would be a solid 2nd rounder if not higher. What really hurts him is the tiny hands and his ability too run the ball when needed. He is one of the very few QB's I would be on board with in the later rounds.

Every year a few of these guys do some stupid shit in the weeks leading up to the draft. This year its Dak Prescott -- arrested for DUI. Hasn't this guy ever heard of Uber?
