If he is very good attacking, then how can the coaching staff exploit his strengths and utilize that? Part of the problem is the nose tackle (McLendon). McLendon is supposed to be tying up OL so that the ILB can shoot gaps. McLendon played like absolute dogshit, thereby allowing the OL to get to the second level and take Lee out of the play. The staff can either have Lee sit back and analyze what is going on in front of him or they can just tell him to attach a pre-determined gap. They are better off doing the letter because he takes too long to diagnose plays. Here's my biggest problem with Lee, he was supposed to be this athletic LB who was going to cover RBs and TEs, something the Jets have not had in a long time. Maccagn drafts this under-sized ILB, tells us how much of a freak athlete he is and how great it will be to have a true 3 down ILB. But he absolutely sucks in coverage and is totally lost when it comes to recognizing anything in the passing game. Add Lee to likes of Milliner, Coples, Wilson etc..etc first round picks who never get past their rookie deals.

But while we are stuck with him on the roster, let's try to maximize his ability.

If he is very good attacking, then how can the coaching staff exploit his strengths and utilize that? He's not good at anything and never was......see my above posts. He's a guy that tests well with speed but still has no instincts or feel for the game. He routinely gets spun around in coverage and gets washed out in the run game. There is timed speed and game speed and he's never had the latter. He's another product of an overhyped OSU program were the sum is greater than the parts. So basically you are saying that he is a sunk cost?

My initial posts are from BEFORE he was drafted so no anti Jets bias involved. Unfortunately he's still the same player, maybe a tad bit worse.

He made my list of the two players I didn't want drafted, so that in itself is impressive. He's horrible in coverage(always has been) gets washed out in the running game, and has no value as a pass rusher at 220lbs. He's essentially the same player he was coming out. Maybe he plays adequate as a 4-3 olb but I doubt it because of his lack of awareness and instincts. He's just another guy in our long lists of busts.

I was talking about potential first round picks so Hack was not even in the conversation. My other guy was Nkemdiche and he has been a total bust for Atlanta so far.

Rob, the irony is, I checked out who we would have been better off with and, it's slim pickings: www.nfl.com/draft/2016/tracker#dt-tabs:dt-by-roundI can't make a very strong argument for any of the other guys that were picked after him in round 1. William Jackson maybe, but he was hurt all year last year and I have no idea what he is going to be.

I wanted Noah Spence, who has been a good player (and an ex Buckeye)
