March 7, 2014Tight End Jeff Cumberland re-signs a 3-year $5.7 million contract. At one time, I thought Cumberland was going to a pretty good receiving threat at tight end. I kept waiting for him to have that breakout season. Eventually I figured out what most everyone on this board knew. The guy is just not very good. 2 years ago today he was re-signed. In his 6 seasons as a Jet, he has 86 receptions for about 1,100 yards, including just 5 catches this past season. Could today be the day he gets released to free up $1.9 million of cap space.

I'll be honest and I started to panic thinking this was today's date.

Jeff Cumberland...a poor man's Doug Jolley.
Will we ever find a competent TE again?

I was hoping that today would serve up another JDIH about five years from now but this piece of shit is still under contract. What the hell is Mac waiting for?

If you are going to let a guy go -- and we have to for cap reasons, it should have been done by now. At least give the guy the chance to try to find a new home.
